Sorry, I just went through the other group buy a thread and it looks like the mitre cut is for early models without a rear valance, and the straight cut is pretty much for everything else (late model, mt1/mt2). Please correct me if I’m wrong.

so to rephrase my question: is the dual walled tip an angled or straight output from the muffler?

Sorry again, I don't want to post incorrect information so here in quotes is the response I read.

Early model cars WITHOUT a real valence can get an exhaust with tips that come straight out of the muffler with flat ends (similar to e30m3)

Late model cars with a metal valence, MT1, MT2, and probably early model cars with a valence will not be able to fit straight exhaust tips. These car require the tips to be angled as they exit the muffler. The ends of the tips can be flat (square to the tube) or mitered (similar to the stock exhaust tips)

His info was a little mixed up. The system is offered as single wall or dbl wall tips,and they angle out similar to the stock set up. We dont offer the straight out tips. Hope that helps.

1. Mitre cut (angled) is single-walled/hollow only. This will look similar to OEM exhaust. 3" round polished tips.
2. Dual-walled perforated tip. 3" round polished tips.

Right! I'll get the single-walled mitre cut tip. Apparently the perforated tip is a tight fit with the 318i rear valance.
