Massive's adapters for e90 seats into e30s

Hi guys.

It has been a long time since I sold my M3 and have barely been on R3V since then. But as I am producing e90 seats adapters for the e30 (I also make them for the e28 now) and wanted to present thwm.

The adapters for e90 seats will be available in the coming month. Installation will be easy but NOT a 100% bolt-on as installation will require to get rid of the two front mounting studs. They can easily be hammered out, or pushed with a zip gun (my prefered method). And replaced by a stainless steel Inserts that will come supplied in the kit. Believe me, there is NO other way to fit adapters for e90 seats. And you can trust the designer of the original e30 Recaro adapters.

I am now taking orders at discount price on the first batch. It will be a small production at that price and only the quantity ordered will be produced.
Regular price will be 250$CAD / $180USD for a kit that will fit two seats.

I will offer the kit at an introductory price on the first batch.
Introductory price on the first batch is 180$CAD + 38$CAD shipping in North America. ETA is last week of November.

I have some follow up questions:

1. Do the seats happen to rest on the bolts that are securing the adapters to the chassis? If so, how much seat get raised in total, including the 1/4" bracket?
2. If you move the seat all the way forward / back, how far are you from the pedals / steering wheel? Please include your height.
3. Any pictures of the adapters installed with or without seats?
4. What material and color / finish will the final product be in?

I can see that you have tackled yourself the design of the adapters and maybe have hit a few walls. 25 years experience making e30 parts gave me the solutions to all your questions.

I wouldn't necessarily say hit a wall, as I have been running my adapters for a couple of years now. Some minor things I would change for myself.

Your intro price is great.

The kit doesn't raise the seats more than the thickness of the adapters. Or if you elect to sue the 3mm thick alu spacers to fit between the floorpan and the adapters to make up with the thickness of the carpet, then that'S all it raises the seat.

For those who are interested in running power seats there are a few things to consider or know.

Although you can directly power the seats, after a few seconds of inactivity, they will stop working because there is no CAN bus signal. You can mitigate this by using a 555 timer to simulate the signal and keep the seat functioning, 100% of the time. Alternatively, you can add an on/off switch, but you will need to wait for the seats to "reset" before they can move again.

I have not had a chance to test out the memory function, as I am the only driver of the car.

My seats do not have heat, so I cannot comment on the wiring / switches. I do have a few E34 and Z3 heat switches, but do not have heated seats to try them on.

If you want to use pigtails to a cleaner install, note that the E9x and F series seats use different harnesses / pigtails, but the wiring is the same.

A small batch of kits for e28 and e30 chassis has been put in production. ETA is third week of November.

I produced:

- e90 seats in e30 chassis
- e36 and e46 in e28 chassis - Same adapters for both types of seats, just flip them to fit each individual mounting pattern.
- e90 seats in e28 chassis

I have also already designed adapters for e36/e46 seats in the e30 chassis but they will be produced on a later date if there is some demand for the older seats.

Deadline to benefit of the intro price is this weekend. Then if there are remaining kits, they'll go for the regular price.
Fasteners have been ordered already.

I wish to mention that the e90 adapters fit ELECTRIC seats as well as MANUAL seats. While both types of seats share the same mounting dimensions, the bottom face of the electric sliders is flat, while one of the manual sliders' bottom face has an 8.5mm deep ridge. And the sliders sit flat on the adapters. There's no spacer in between. This made the design a bit more involved but it works great. Using 8mm thick material, and therefore the seats are only raised 8mm off the floor pan. Nontheless, I will still include 4.5mm alu spacers if you want to insert them between floorpan and adapters if your carpet is thick.
