There are like 30 pages of review on vortex. If those non driving fuckers can make them last for a couple years a careful e30 owner should have no problem.

i just got an update on mine. they are here in albuquerque already thru the sorting center so i should have them tomorrow which is amazing because they shipped last thursday

The only thing I was concerned about was the spring rates, and those are plenty stiff for me.

And how do those front perches work? Do they just slide onto the strut housing? no cutting and welding?

You have to cut the perches off just like the Ground Control Kit. The amount of low depends on the cut I am assuming but having never installed coilovers on a e30 I will defer to the experts.
