So cool knowing that the 24v head still exists, and almost sounds like there is a shadow of a doubt that a few more could be made.

I might be interested in a valve cover depending on price.

Doing a m30 swap too, might be interested in a header if they become available.

So i take it you guys are already working on an aluminum m20 block. Right?

so what *is* the point? aside from the cost of the head casting itself, you're honestly going to be looking at another $10k+ before you even have a running motor (it will certainly need a new intake manifold - like custom ITBs, airbox, exhaust, cams, etc. etc not to mention a bottom end that can hold up). And it will still have the other drawbacks of an M20 - shorter deck height (this has implications regarding rod length and crown thickness), a non-performance oil system, timing belt, V-belt accessories, and many others. I mean you're taking the head to the 21st century, but the rest of the motor is still 1968.

would it be cool? heck yeah! would it make even a tiny bit of sense, when as a full package something like an S54 will be way better for a fraction of the price? I mean, building an N/A 12v M20 is one thing (I'm a fan, obviously), but there's a reason that development of 24v m20 heads was stopped dead in it's tracks..

anyway, I don't want to detract from this dude's thread - the headers are good stuff, and for $600 make a lot of sense. further 24v M20 discussion may be best left for another thread. :)

I'm interested, if these really are that good. I'm also interested in those +1 valves.

Does anyone know if these headers have an anti-reversion step built in anywhere? (i.e. The ID of the primary is slightly larger than the hole in the flange) Or do they still rely on the exhaust port in the head being a smaller diameter than the hole in the flange?

the entry from the flange to the primaries is smooth.

there's not a lot of reason to hog out the exhaust ports that much so it shouldn't be an issue. the primaries are about 1 5/8". I think even if you matched the exhaust ports to the gaskets, the primaries would still be a little larger.

The only reason I ask is because I was looking at the head that I'm rebuilding and there was pretty clear variation in the position of the exhaust port relative to the gasket (see black carbon ring in attached pics). If the ID of the primary is larger than the ID of the gasket, then I'll match the ports close to the gasket but still leave a small lip.

                          Thanks for the info.

Call me a romantic but i love the m20. I don't have a problem spending $30k on my e30. My e60 has already depreciated more then that.

if you have $30k to spend on an M20 - have at it. :)
