Keyless Entry Round 2

Cool, just installed, it works great
My car had an old alarm which tap the lock output to double lock wire (red/brown) so i just reused that without touching the lock wire (yellow/blue), so now my lock button dead lock the car :)

p.s. I'm a tight ass :) I just followed this guy to cut an old key to fit into the key fob, save $5 to cut the blank key.

well, went to get the keys cut - the blank is shorter (when measured from the stop to the tip) and the key guys (two tried) managed to get it close - but the key wont turn the lock or the ignition

I am going to sit down with a file tomorrow and see if I can get it to work

Any ideas - I still have one key uncut

and btw - I took the key completely apart down to just the bare shaft of the key - even removed the end that holds the flip mechanism

They need to line them up at the tip and cut in to the shoulder. Works like a charm.

I'm guessing since my car doesnt have power anything I would need to buy actuators for this to work with?

The keyless entry is only a trigger device. It's intended to be used with an existing central locking. The e46 style alarm system however does not and can be used to retrofit central locking.

p.s. sorry just re-read the diagram in page 1 and guess it is for E30 wiring, is that right ??

The free gift was for the very next purchase when I posted that. You just missed it. Sorry for forgetting the wiring diagram. It's prettying the same thing as page one. Please note the wires you need to tap the black and white words in to is located behind the drivers side kick panel. It runs behind the speaker.

My ignition and door lock keys are different. Lost the door lock key. Can still get in the car because the drivers side lock is broken. Will this unit work for me to unlock? 88 convertible.
