I hate to post this, but is there an official method of removing the blade prior to cutting? I looked around and didn't come up with anything.
BTW, the kit is working perfect and the install was super easy. I can't say enough how pleased I am with it.
Keyless Entry Round 2

I accidentally posted this in the first thread, so I'll just ask it here as well. For the sake of keeping things tidy, can I just remove the pins from the connector for the unused wires? If so, any ideas on how can I do it?
UPDATE: a bobby pin seemed to work, but rendered the unit useless. Should the unused wires remain in the harness? I clearly have an extremely limited knowledge of electronics and circuits.Leave a comment:

I have wasted one of the key blanks -
Einstein - the key blanks are MUCH longer than the oem blank
Can I send you a key and the other blank?
I also need to get another blank or two.Leave a comment:

No its $50 shipped on clearance.
1) Use red lock tite to hold it in placeHi Einstein,
2 things:
1) I bought the keyless entry with flip keys - works great! I think I did not remove the blank properly for cutting however, as it is not very tight and the tiny screws tend to loosen a bit. Can you let me know the proper way? I still have one of the uncut ones.
2) Bought the E46 style alarm back in March - finally got around to installing it today. The auto lock is a bit bigger issue than I thought. I set it up as keyless only and left the siren in the box. I wired the blue wire to the green/red wire on the driver side door switch which is behind the speaker. That switch works as my light goes on and off.
JP-1 is not jumpered - it is clear. I also tried unplugging the connector on the brain with the blue wire.
Anyway, it still relocks 20 seconds or so, whether the door has been opened or not. I was willing to work with a "must open door" situation, but this seems worse than others' experiences.
Is there something that can be done? I do think the E46 keys are cool (and mostly why I bought this one). When I started reading about some problems, I procrastinated on the installation.
So can you help with either of these problems? Thank you
Ross
2) There is a work around write up in the original GB thread. its towards the end.http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...&postcount=458
This is a wireless door/trunk open and close with the option during install of blinking light or not.
This unit is intended for use with E-30 cars the unit comes with key blanks for the e-30. the entire unit is in the appearance of the e-46 flip key design
So basically this is a central lock and unlock wireless thing for the e30 that just happen to look like the e-46 oem keyless entry flip key style.
This thread refers to the flip blade keyless entry. The e46 style is only available on the alarm systems which are on closeout. They are both intended to be used on the e30. The flip key system comes with e30 specific wiring instructions.Last edited by einstein57; 07-30-2012, 05:39 PM.Leave a comment:
