    RM Engineered Hood Release Lever

Quick review of the RM Engineered Hood Release Lever.

Good: high quality, fit as intended, met my goal of reducing plastic touch points while not contrasting with the original interior look.

Criticisms (minor): it’s larger than the OEM piece. Doesn’t come with a replacement cable (like the OEM part).

Discussion: The OEM release is the whole assembly, so this is not a complete replacement. Since costs have ballooned, the RE part isn’t that much of a jump, but it’s not quite a direct replacement. Luckily, my cable was fine, but had I needed a new one, the cost would have doubled from what I spent. I also don’t quite understand the choice to make it larger than OEM. Maybe it was to add the webbed support detail, but it’s h
a hidden feature. My goal was for the lever to disappear. That being said, the size is not egregious and it sits pretty low so I don’t have a real complaint.

Bottom line: I’m happy with the purchase.

A small upgrade you use every time you open the hood. This billet handle replaces the stock pull with a longer, more durable, and visually refined solution—turning a forgettable part into something you’ll actually notice.

What other plastic touch points have you changed to metal? debating to get this.

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

Thus far, just the Leo Grande interior door handles and convertible top release. There isn’t much out there. I’m hoping that someone might bring more durable replacements to market- billet aluminum, stamped stainless or modern composites. The thinks at the top of my wish list now are things I’ve broken during my restoration: grill and center kidney, door sill and interior trunk trim. Given the cost or OEM replacements, it seems like these make economic sense.
