Looking at how the degrees are marked moving the sprocket towards "A" will actually move the cam counterclockwise in relation to crankshaft. Wouldn't that actually retard timing?
I don't know what picture you're looking at, but mine is marked with "A" towards the clockwise side, and "R" towards the counterclockwise side.
Exactly. If you move the dial towards "A" it actually retarts cam position. It is marked incorrectly.
If you undo 6 outside bolts and slide outside part towards side marked "A", the inner part (where the cam is attached) actually ends up being moved counterclockwise in relationship to crankshaft position.

What direction does the cam turn, clockwise (if looking head-on)?
If this is the case then Alex is correct. I have the same adj cam gear but the fiance has the car tonight so I can't check it out - can anyone confirm if it is marked correctly in Nando pic above?
The cam wheel is incorrectly marked. The "A" mark should be where the "R" mark is, and vice versa. I will let them know.
If the gear turns clockwise, then indeed you guys are right.
I thought I advanced my cam 2deg on my freshly built stroker (with 284/272 cam) but in fact it looks to be 2deg retarded. Would this cause a slightly rougher than expected idle?
Currently, my motor is really responsive & punchy at all rpms, I would think it would be even moreso if I adjusted the cam gear to in fact have a 2deg advance, no?
It is 100% marked backwards! I confirmed this with my Cosmo Racing adj cam gear which has to come from the same assembly line as it is identical in every aspect. Fuck was I pissed, caused me a lot of problems!
THANK YOU greatly Alex for pointing this out, hopefully anyone else who bought these gears will see this as there are a lot of defective ones floating around out there.
Ok this might soun stupid... but im sort of stupid for this type of things...
If i advance timing i get??? more power in higher rpms?
If i retar timing i get? more power in lower rpms???
I want to move my powerband to 3,000 to 7,000 range...
Thanks
