So....... Just to clarify, it'd be 4 (2 front, 2 rear) rebuilt OEM calipers, w/ OEM parts, blasted and powdercoated.... All seals, and such replaced, blah blah blah? I didn't check fap but that seems really good, and I know my left rear is starting to stick :(
Gauging interest for rebuilt brake calipers

PM me a price for a set of 4, and for the lot. You might have just saved me a trip to the junk yard.
I probably should have clarified a bit more, the $6 is for the nipple and cover, I'm sure the cover is only pennies of that $6.
It's a working price of course but yezzir. To put it simply I'm cleaning everything, replacing everything rubber (besides the guides), polishing the piston and chamber if necessary, cleaning every piece of hardware, and powdercoating the caliper and guide your choice of black, silver, or red, on 2 front and 2 rear oem calipers.Comment

it was OEM and I was just being polite. $120 for all 4 including parts shipping and labor... not too bad.Comment

BJ, how heat resistant is the powder? Say for cars doing autox and HPDE's?

You guys must have some good local places, here it's just advanced auto where everything is universal fit and special order. Yea that's not a bad price you got for them there, I'll be ordering everything from turner/bimmerworld depending on who gives me a better price. I have a pretty good relationship with a couple guys at turner, so more than likely them.
They make powders that withstand 1000* for prolonged periods, problem is they are only available in shades of black and silver. I'd venture to say a lot of the pc'd calipers you see that are exotic colors are just using your run of the mill powder. The high heat powder is 24/lb, standard coatings are 12/lb, so I mean it's not going to break the bank for the extra assurance, but it's really not necessary.Comment

Alright. I don't have the $$ right now cause of a few unexpected expenses, but I'll hopefully be in contact if you're doing this down the road. I wouldn't care about color, they're not special calipers or anything so black is fine, I just want them to not have issues with autox or track use.

There is very little caliper visibility on stock wheels, and these dinky calipers will look stupid in red, so I think most will go with black or silver anyway. Don't worry about not having $$ right now, I plan on starting over winter break, perfect timing for you to fork over some of your Christmas monies for these.Alright. I don't see why not. Keep in mind the rebuild kits are cheaper for the rears, so it won't an be even 50/50
The price is not set in stone as of yet, although I do hold this as a close estimation. The M3 rebuild kits are only $10 more expensive than 325 ATE's, so don't expect any huge increases.Comment

Thx BJ I'll be in touch. I didn't think about xmas $$ (and my birthday is the 19th)... I was hoping to pick up a glock in early Jan.. But it might have to wait. Plus, I'm gonna start detailing locally, so hopefully I can bring some $$ back in instead of constantly sending it out. There is very little caliper visibility on stock wheels, and these dinky calipers will look stupid in red, so I think most will go with black or silver anyway. Funny you say that, I did motorcycle detailing for a while, but it seems no one around here wants their bike done in the middle of the winter. I contemplated going to a car dealership but 1 wanted to pay $10 (I make more than that selling sunglasses), and the other $7.50 (state minimum). You'll make good money as a privateer, as long as you can keep a nice flow of customers.Comment

Yeah, that's my only concern, especially starting in winter (not smart)... I figure, if I can make enough to pay off the equipment, then it's all good cause then I get all the equipment for free to do my own car as well as family and friends. Although, I do have 2 people lined up already, just dunno what I'm gonna charge and how else / to who else I am / should advertise. It's just a half-brained start up stemming from an idea I can make my own hours while going to school full time... All that aside, as long as the PC doesn't melt down and cause problems, I'll be in for a set down the road....
Maybe post up some info, how can you tell what calipers you have? I didn't look when i did my pads and rotors, but are there distinguishing marks or anything to help tell each apart.

do your car first, then a buddies or two, and take a million before and after pictures. I posted an ad on craigslist and emailed people the before and after pictures. I was doing $200/ bike, as these have very little paint work but tons of high detail areas and chrome.Yeah, that's my only concern, especially starting in winter (not smart)... As far as the calipers go they will say ate, or girling right on the top. Girling is printed largely, ate small, with a circle around it.Comment
