Once you start doing a fair bit of AutoX/track use with higher spring rates then bearing becomes a better choice for durability/efficiency. Certainly people have run urethane with high spring rates with good success, I'm only pointing out what I think is the break even point if you will.
Obviously part of this depends on roads too. If you're driving your car on the street and you have nasty roads then urethane will provide more NVH isolation. The downside of using bearing mounts in this case is that you put additional wear on the bearings.
It's a matter of balancing the factors of usage, spring rate, personal comfort level required, and roads. We're happy to help people make this choice on a singular basis too so no one should feel like they can't be asking about this.
Hope this is helpful, please feel free to ask further questions.

And keep in mind, they typically only offer any specials on 4100 models. Occasionally, as now, they extend it to some 4200 variants (sorry, currently the only E30 special is on the 4100's).
As dealers we really can't do special pricing because of the terms of our agreement with AST USA, otherwise it becomes not fair to other dealers.
I hope you all understand this. I try really hard to do whatever I can for the E30 crowd with this stuff but I am limited in what I can ethically do.

Hi Jason,
There is a large variety so to list them would be a bit much. ; ) First, I would recommend not going lower in rate than 400 in the front and 450 in the rear. Next, I would not recommend going higher than 700 in the front and 800 in the rear. In between is really the most usable range of rates with these dampers. You could probably go a bit more either way but you're starting to compromise the performance of the system.
We can get nearly any rate in that range in 30-50lbs/in increments. One important thing to keep in mind is that when you get into lower rates we need to be careful of spring length to optimize travel and to prevent bottoming out. Fortunately we have more E30 experience than any other AST dealer by far so we can always come up with some solution.
But that should suit pretty much anyone out there. If you're on either side of this range you might need to consider other products.
Hope this helps! Cheers.Comment

I have many Australian and New Zealand customers, shipping there is rarely a problem and we are flexible with different shipping types so as to keep the cost low but the service timely and reliable.
Let me know if I can help you out.
Also, if I can get several more "down under" customers I want to come out there and hit a V8 Supercar race...I'm thinking Bathurst next Oct. ; )

To be clear to, you can choose your spring rates that you desire, we do not charge anything additional for this and the only limit is what is available through Swift, Hyperco, or H&R.
And again this pricing is good through the end of November. You do not have to take delivery, only place your order. There is limited stock on the E30 4100's though. We have quite a few but sales are starting to come in so I won't be surprized if we're out by the end of the month. I will likely order more but delivery on those won't be til after the new year and it would be back at the regular price, $1995.
Hope that clears it up!

Hi guys,
Sorry, not sure why I did not get post notices to the thread. Anyway, the sale is through November so I don't anticipate it going through the end of the year.
The discount for the E30 stuff is a price of $1796 for a kit with everything EXCEPT camber plates. And there is no discount on camber plates, those are already discounted if purchased with the kit. The regular price of the camber plates/spring perches is $419 and with the coilover kit they're $359 so there is no further discount on those.
If you wanted to upgrade the RSM's from urethane to spherical it is $50 extra but again, there is no discount on that.
So a full kit with urethane RSM's and camber plates is $2155. Upgrade to spherical RSM's and the total is $2205. That's a helluva deal and there is nothing else on the market even remotely close to this performance for this price.
Hope this helps and makes things clear! Cheers.Last edited by Elephant; 11-23-2010, 06:04 AM.Comment

For my future reference when it comes time for suspension, what is the difference between this kit and the Ground Control kit that includes dampers, springs and mounts for $1499? Are the dampers of higher quality? For all things 24v, check out Markert Motorworks!Originally posted by mbonanniI hate modded emtree, I hate modded cawrz, I hate jdm, I hate swag, I hate stanceyolokids, I hate bags (on cars), I hate stuff that is slowz, I hate tires.
