So what exactly would I be needing to fit some 5x120, 16x7.5" rims with 38 offset on my e30?

you would need the design type 2 adapters for 4x100 > 5x120.
the skinniest you can do is 18mm, which would give you a lot of freedom to do what you wanted with 16x7.5 et38 wheels.
a safe final offset for 7.5" wide wheels is et20, so start with some 18mms up front, and do 23-25mm out back so the front and rear wheels are squared up to each other in the fenders.
it really depends on how much you've lowered your car, the tires you plan on running and how you want the wheels to sit, but with those specs, as i said, you've got a ton of leeway to choose.Comment

if you want a chunky, track type look with better clearance i'd do 225/45s.
if you are more of a looks guy then i'd do 205/45s.
for the 225s id do 18mms front and 25mm out back.
for the 205s id do 23mms up front and 30mm out back, that'll leave you a little less than flush.Comment

Well i don't really want to do 205s, not a fan of stretch. I've seen a couple good deals online for some 215/40 packages.. I want as little fender gap as possible, without running too much stretch. Not rolling fenders is a plus :)
I'll go do some tire shopping this weekend and try to figure out what i'll run so I can get back to you :)2007 Range Rover Sport S/CComment

205/45s wont stretch on a 7.5, but if 215s are what you have your eye on, it sounds good to me.
i think we can get you a set up that meets all those criteria, drop me an meail at info@8380labs.com when you're ready. :)Comment

everything is actually made to order custom, but we should be able to get you sorted out pretty quickly.
i'm assuming we're talking about 16x8 et23. if that's the case, you'd need the design type 2 adapters (4x100 > 5x120). the thinnest we can do is 18mm, which would put you at et5. if you run 205/45s and roll your fenders that will work fine, it will be right around flush. i'd bump the rears out another 5-7mm, as noted above.Comment

I just bought some 5x120 wheels, and I kinda want to put them on my car eventually.
Does anybody run the 18mm design 2 adapter? If I understand correctly, the bolts will only go 18mm into the adapter. Wouldn't that be a bit risky?'91 E30 316i
