Don't go with VIS, I had one. The fitment was horrid, like Jordan said.

That would be cool. How much do the IE fiberglass hood weigh? If it's a reasonable price, I may be interested.

yes the VIS hood fits like crap. seen it in person.

I dunno about an IE fiberglass hood GB. You kinda have to paint the fiberglass, unlike CF that you can leave exposed. And I would rather find something cheaper, as I can just drive over to IE and pick it up myself.

From IE's website regarding the $225 RACE HOOD:
Fit all E30's including M3. Our hoods are hand laid for an excellent fit and finish. Lines and details are very crisp. They are supplied with a gel-coat finish, ready for final sanding. Weight is 14 lb. These are intended for pin mounting. Must ship by truck.

Their other hood uses stock mounting or whatever, and costs 200 dollars more......

i have also seen a VIS hood close up, it didnt look wavy/bent/shrunk(that much), which is why i plan on buying one, since i have seen it in person... there are 1/2" gaps on the sides though.

VIS has not even emailed me back. Maybe if someone else emailed them they might respond.

I saw a VIS hood in person the other day and it really wasn't as bad as I have heard it to be. The passenger side is definitly bent though and there are the gaps on the sides.

This being said I am still interested.

how about using these to sort of cover up the gap from the fitment issue?

That would work. How much do the evo hood seals run?

Do you have a picture of the evo seal with the hood closed?

Look at any picture of my car when I had the hood. I have evo hood seals then and still do.

Hood fits like shit. The hood seals only help on a black car, or if you leave the hood unpainted. They would make the gap appear significantly larger if you had the hood painted and had evo hood seals.

why would you paint a carbon hood. if you want a lightweight hood to paint then why not a fiberglass one?
