It will work great on the 5th gen iPod touch (the latest generation)! The reason only 5th gen is because it's the only iPod Touch with Bluetooth 4.0 so far.

Pushed out a couple of updates for the Android version to get the interface on par with the iOS version. Removed some superfluous stuff on the dash board and updated the icon. Fixed a bug that would kill the app occasionally when disconnecting from the controller.

Also pushed out an update for the iOS version tonight (that probably won't be live until next weekend). Fixed a scanning error when searching for a controller and improved some of the background processing.

Thanks for all the orders so far guys - everything has been sent out except for the two orders from today. Those will go out first thing in the morning. I'll be sending PMs to anyone asking for an iPhone/iPad version tonight.

It took six days but the latest update (v1.0.1) for iOS is finally approved by Apple and live in the app store. It should update automatically as it propagates through Apple's servers. There's some good Bluetooth connection bug fixes in it so make sure you get the latest!

Right now I'm working on a couple of concepts: the first is displaying the data on a Cartesian plane so you get a sort of "instant" data-logging that can be pitted against any other sensor. There are some really cool libraries for iOS and the Android SDK that I'm playing around with - more on that later.

The other is customizing the gauge faces to be just about anything. To make it more user-centric I'd like to implement a way to upload an image of a gauge face (such as the beautiful gauges Fusion created earlier in the thread) and map the needle to the min and max points on the image. As long as the gauge image is linear it should be pretty straight forward.

Anyway, thanks for the orders this week!

Thanks for the shout. I placed an order and although I have no idea when Ill get around to the install, this is e30 history

I was out of the country last week, (had a distributor setup, all orders went out same day or, if ordered late, the next) just got back into town late last night - feels good to be back!

I'm starting to expand a little outside of the e30 community. I signed a few deals with other large forums to do some advertising on so I'm gearing up for that by building stock and getting all the shipping supplies at the ready. Pretty excited to start growing this thing over the next few months!

Very nice work. I do have a few questions:

Do you have a projected timeline for when datalogging will be available?

What is the targeted data collection rate?

What is the refresh rate of the displayed Wideband gauge?

Is there an easy way to get the MAP sensor output to send it to Microsquirt?

I'm considering this as an option for a KE-Jet CIS to EFI conversion on my Merc 2.3-16 Cossie where I'd like to do MAP and AFR data logging pre-conversion and then have the same set up be available after the conversion.

              Thanks.

                1. I'm shooting for sometime in the third quarter this year. There's some really cool graph-display libraries that I'm playing around with, just need to find the right fit for this app. What's cool though is any new development will always be distributed freely to current Chariot Gauge system owners and be available open source on gitHub if you'd like to see under the hood!

                2. 20 queries a second is what is currently being handled. For display purposes I may need to average it as four amounts (average of five readings) each second but I won't know for sure what resolution I'll finally end up with.

                3. Same as above, 20/second. This goes for all five gauges.

                4. There is currently no way to output the MAP sensor data outside of the Chariot Gauge system. The MAP sensor is on-board and the sensor itself handles the conversion to an analog signal. It would probably be easiest to buy a MPX4250AP ($14 from mouser.com) and connect the signal/ground directly to microsquirt - however I don't know what the input for microsquirt looks like or if it's configurable. I'll do some reading on it.

Hopefully that answers your questions, let me know what else, thanks!

I've been working with a company to produce a small tin enclosure for the controller. These will be included with all future orders ready for install to keep the controller safe. I've heard a lot of feedback requesting something to store the controller in and I think this is a good solution.

If you have already ordered a controller and would like one of these enclosures pm/email me your address and I'll get one out to you! They arrive middle of next week so I should be able to get them out by next weekend.

Great product have it in my car and use it daily on my small tablet. Keeps the interior stock looking and all the functions are awesome! I was always worried about my car getting broken into from having visible gauges or cops pulling me over because i have gauge on my dash this is a great solution for both. A+++ product great support! Don't hesitate to buy.

Oh man I hear ya! Ideally the controller would capture and display engine speed which would be really awesome with the upcoming data logging. But with the various means to capture the rpm signal it was too complicated and would make the controllers prohibitively expensive. Stand-alone ECUs such as megasquirt do a great job of it and is not really something I could improve on at a lower price so I don't want to try and compete with them.

It's a big to-do item on my list but it'll be much further down the road than the current planned updates to the app oriented around the data it's already capturing.

That makes sense. I think it's a super good idea I mean your getting 4 gauges in 1 for $50! That is insane! Your the man! How easy is installation? I have an e36 m3 drift car I'm building and I just picked up an iPad (3rd gen) and did some research and found this. I downloaded chariot app and I think it is the coolest thing ever just want to make sure my obd1 boosted m50 is compatible. Also how long (if any) is the delay time for all sensor readings?
