i re-emailed him again yesterday and still haven't gotten a reply. if anyone else wants to take over ( since i live in AZ/scottsdale and it is not a port city...if this will help out on the price of the shipping) i have never organized a group buy, so don't worry about stepping on my dick. i am still down for a hood though.

I contacted him a while back too and he didn't seem that interested..

I might have to back out anyway, I'm buying a house and I think I'd rather have furniture and a new bed than a FG hood for my car :p

I have a US source for FRP and CF hoods that use the stock hinges and latches. The weight on the FRP is apprx. 12 lbs.

The are from a parts maker that does the highest quality Porsche parts in the country. I can do $499 for the FRP and $625 for CF - shipped, if there is enough interest. Say 5-10 hoods?

im going to start with a complaint about shitty fitment and poor delivery service to get it out of the way now. ive never seen one of these go down smoothly. someone makes a shitty product and delivers on time or makes a decent product that is delivered about the time your car is worn out. or the best of all, they take your loot and never deliver. theres still guys waiting for carbon sunroofs 2 years after the fact. make your own out of construction paper or leave the stock hood on. who the hell can feel 20lbs off the front axle?

is it GT Racing? can they do a rear deck that mounts like stock...no hood pins. what about STOCK front fenders in fiberglass...ie look like stock, fit/mount like stock just out of glass??

that's why i would go fiberglass insted of CF. plus if you gaffle it it can usually be repaired. let me also state that fiberglass NEVER fits like stock. ever! good quality=usually close. it is always going to require SOME work to get it to fit like stock. fiberglass shrinks in the mold and it does not like to hold it's shape unless it is mounted. that's just a fact of life. weight...any weight does make a difference. it just matters the trade off you make for it in $$$ or time or reliability. 30ish lbs is not a bad loss of weight. if you could combine that with a fiberglass rear deck and front fenders ( basically most of your bolt-on components save the bumpers) you are looking at a significant weight loss, and that will make a difference you can feel!!!

trust me i know, just last week my dad and i got into an argument about this. we were going to home depot to get some shit to finish a project and he had a can of soda. i wouldnt let him in the car with it because of the extra weight. you never know when youre going to come up against a punk in a neon sr4tr or whatever they are. i made him drink it first and empty all the change out of his pockets. turns out we didnt race anyone but we were ready just incase

The hoods are from Getty. IIRC, they make the parts for GT Racing. If your familiar with Porsche, you know that they make the highest quality FRP/CF around. They have been making parts for over 20 years.

No fenders or rear decklids at this time.

Shipping to the midwest/east cost is going to run me around $150, so I'll need around 10 orders to make this worth my while at the prices I listed above.

                        Return Policy-
-In the event of a problem, call to receive return authorization permission
-No returns will be accepted on items that have been installed or modified
-Items can be returned for credit or exchanges only
-Returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee
-All outgoing freight charges must have been paid by the customer
-No returns will be accepted because of problems caused by a failure to follow the guidelines in the instructional booklet, “FRP Techniques”
                        -No returns after 15 days

                        Freight Damage-

-Inspect all packages carefully for damage. Claims against freight carriers for damage to shipments must be made by the customer. Note any damage on the freight bill or refuse the shipment. Save any damaged packing for claims purposes.

the stock fenders weigh almost nothing to begin with so theres really no reason to get FG ones. To get them to fit right and be stiff enough for a street car they would prob weigh the same or more than the stock fenders.
