Group buy: Subwoofer boxes

Justin, it is still in the plans. I just have to make sure there is no conflict of interest with my working for CarToys. -
I still wish there was some sort of solution for the cabbys out there. What was the result of the one I think you were working on that you were going to port to the back seats? I need to redo my seats anyway, I could even leave a mesh opening roughly over where the port would enter. Are you going to have enough time to work on your own stuff like this at your new job? Even though its a lot more complicated to complete the process (on the user-end DIY to cut through the panels...) I think if you were able to build a couple or few boxes for us vert owners they would sell. I know I have a welder :)
It would also be nice since then I could have a big flat surface to mount my ginormous amp on. Come to think of it, that leads me to a question. The fins on it are left to right, and I dont remember if it said not to in the manual I found online for it, but would it be safe to mount it vertically stood up on its front edge (for ventillation..)?Leave a comment:

Hey Luke, do you have plans to continue these when you get up here? Maybe we can sort something out with my cabby...I don't want anything cut, but you could use it for whatever else you'd like, measurements or whatnot...Leave a comment:

Oh yeah, the single 10" box (on hold for a while at this point) is gonna have 2X2" ports and a woofer firing through the rear seat. Elbows and a thin woofer will be necessary, but the Exile XT10 is only 3.25" deep and is fairly light for what it is, plus sounds excellent.Leave a comment:

Yeah, can't build 1 or 2, pretty much has to be 6 or so.I wouldn't either. Your box is top notch. The shop I took it to have it installed was hugely impressed with the quality of your work. And then they were absolutely BLOWN AWAY when I told them what I paid you for it.
Hopefully you can figure something out for a 10" to sit in front of DC's rear strut brace.
Figure it like this: Wood, glue, foam, silicone, blades, port tubes, etc., run about $85 to build 6 boxes, plus 2 FULL days to build, running into 3 or 4 days counting shipping (a real bitch to pack!) or if the phone rings a bunch, which it will. 6X150= $900, which is shit compared to the time it takes.
These have definitely been a labor of love for me. I really appreciate the feedback. Hope you guys have enjoyed the sound!

good point. don't want anyone complaining that the box sounds like crap when they put it together incorrectly. so. my suggestion is this... build another v1... sell it to me... and let me give some more word of mouth advertising. ;-)Leave a comment:

Not possible.
I am not trusting ANYONE to assemble my shit.Leave a comment:

I will add in another attempt at my suggestion of a group buy of V1/2 "Kits" where you send out the cut panels and the buyer assembles them. This would possibly save shipping $$ and definitely save $$ on assembly costs. Just cut em, pack em, and ship 'em! Just an idea (again ;))...Leave a comment:

digging up the dead...
luke, do you have any boxes made already that you'd like to unload? i'd love to have a v1. i know you said it was getting kinda crazy with the move and all, but i thought i'd give it a shot.Leave a comment:

Josh, Nate, I have 3 boxes built and ready to ship. One is sold, the other 2 are available, just as long as I can find time to ship.
Call me at my shop with Visa in hand: 541-747-1171
Thanks!

No worries, man...drop your cabbie off at my shop for a few weeks. Sell those type e woofers to someone with a hatchback, buy some decent ones. I think a pair of Audiobahn AW1006Ts in 3.2 cu.ft. should rock your world pretty good. In general, I hate Audiobahn. In specific, that woofer rocks.
I apparently need to buy a welder soon, I keep finding actual "need" for one, and subwoofers in a 'vert certainly qualifies as a "need".Last edited by StereoInstaller1; 03-26-2008, 06:20 AM.Leave a comment:
