Are the m42 ones good for m40 SOHC engines as well? What is the difference between the different motor fitments? So if I swap engines will I need a new skid?

I have never had an M40 on the rack, but every thing I have seen, lead me to believe it will fit.

I picked up a USED one with a decent dent in it. I straightened it back out, and it went right on no problems. Very structurally sound, even after it took a hit.

Just wanted to speak up for the quality of EJknight's products.

I live in Boca Raton, which is practically speedbump capital of the damned state, if not nation, and the skidplate has saved my M42's pan on a daily basis, or so I like to think at least.

Very easy install, and quick shipping. Great guy and I highly recommend them for any E30, except maybe Rally cars ;)
