Made A brace for my skid plate today
There is a need for an All-Terrain skid plate. Some road's are so bad and some driver so low there is a call for a brace. So today I make one. For now it fits the M20. I think it will fit them all, but it will take some time to get all the cars in. I don't have a price now. I will also work on this. I'm out of town as of Friday and will not be back until the 30th. So give me some time to work it all out. Thank for the support.

PS please for give the mess. this is my Turbo car and I drive it daily. and Yes it is a leaky mess. But it just will not quit. So I have not pulled the motor for a rebuild. maybe this summer.

            No Welding.
            Eric

Support bar looks good, however I still think you will need some sort if "I" beam runner design, or extra material the full length of the plate. Even before my previous accident, my pan was bent upwards on the flat portion, not the angled portion where that bar sits.

I suppose puting a "wedge" type bump on the flat understand (centered on the pan) pointing at the ground would be a bit silly? Something just to add a bit of anti-dent in.

I think a solid pole into a flat pad would be best. give it multiple bolt points. The stress sill be spread out over the whole circumference of the pole giving it more strength. The current setup will bend.

I don't think it will. The force will go right in to the bottom of the frame. if you hit that hard you have a lot more to worrie about.

THIS is what I've been saying! If you hit so hard that you're bending/breaking a skidplate having it welded to your frame is only going to transfer that hit to places you don't want it. I'd rather have a bent plate and a broken oilpan then a bent car...

I'm not saying so it will take a bigger hit. I'm saying so it will spread out the force evenly. The way you have it now has a very pronounced flat spot that contacts the frame. that 1 inch long flat area is all that's taking the brunt. Thin and not that long.

The circle of a pole into that area will spread out the stress from any hit. It will make things last much longer. Roll up a piece of paper into a cylinder and set bricks on it. Do the same with it folded into a triangle. The cylinder will hold up much more than the triangle.

Never heard you say anything about this before. Your frame takes much more than any hit you can dish. It's the strongest part of your car. Where else would you transfer the hit? With the current EJ design, your core support would crumble if it didn't take the pan out with such a large hit. Then you'd have to weld in a new core support. Oil pans are much easier than core supports. So with your logic, you shouldn't even have a skid plate.

Yoshi, shut the fuck up and keep your misinformed, argumentative bullshit out of EJ's for sale thread. There's a thread dedicated to debating these things so if you want to do so, do it there. As of now you're just threadshitting and that is expressly against the rules. I think you owe EJ an apology.

Misinformed? You're the one that says bending metal doesn't weaken it. I'm not crapping on his thread either. He's posting an unfinished mod to his current design and I'm giving my $0.02 on it. Criticism drives innovation. Your dick sucking gets us no where and leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth.
