BTW For people who have enquired about a 4 pot caliper to upgrade the rear one, while keeping the stock rotor. Hmmm... Not physically possible. I must find a 280mm rear disc with a 160mm handbrake drum. I doubt it will come from a VW as they have very different rear set-ups. Basically, bearings are part of the rear discs.

late model z1 rear rotors work if you hadn't found out yet and they use e30 m3 calipers

A French customer has that set-up. I checked the price of Z1 rotors and they are about $160.00usd per unit. I have no problem developping the bracket for a Dynapro caliper, but I won't be able to supply a cheap rotor. You guys could probably source your own rotor while I supply the Dynapros, brackets and pads.

All it takes for me to develop the bracket is 10 commitments.

Lee, could you check the number of the Z1 rotor please, is it 34211160402 ? RealOem shows that number for a 01/1991 production Z1. If that is the correct number, Tischer BMW lists it for $107.18, and Pelican lists it for 95.25, with additional shipping likely. With the wear rate of rear rotors being slower, I think that this could be a viable option. Whether you"ll get 10 commitments is another thing entirely, as we know...

Lee, a hypothetical: If one didn't want their e-brake anymore could you use corrado rotors on the rear with the right caliper adapter?

                  Hi Brian

Thanks for the info. I will start a feeler list on the rear Dynapro kit. At $100 per disc it make more sense. And even if the rotors are not in stock, i am sure that Pelican would gladly order 10 sets if they know in advance they can sell them. I still won't be responsible for supplying the 280mm discs though. My goal is to supply two Dynapro calipers, two steel mounts and pads for $550usd.

Lee, the rear kit would use the narrow mount Dynapro, 1" pistons, for .380 disc? http://www.wilwood.com/Products/001-...-ndp/index.asp
The lug mount DP doesn't seem to come in that combo. Yes, I've been playing with a bias calculator again! :p

You have me hooked, I'm in for the kit, whenever it happens.

                      Hi Brian.

I have a few tricks in my sleeves. The Dynapro caliper with 1.00" pistons currently fits 21mm discs. I can order a batch customized by Wilwood that will fit 10-11mm discs. Which is why I need a GB on 10 kits, to order a minimum of 20 calipers with custom specs. Don't worry, I can do it.

Pending a little more information I am in for this also. I assume since the z1 is built on an e30 chassis that the e-brake and everything would still work? What would you do about the backing plate? Obviously it needs to be retained for E-brake function but will it clear the large rotor?

I can't say absolutely because I don't have a rotor in my hands yet, but the first thing I did when I looked at the link I posted above was run out and look at my backing plates-lo and behold, there is more space for a bigger rotor. It appears to be a straight bolt on, with the parking brake function retained.

I do everytime I park my car. I don't know if it is correct or not but I have always believed in using the parking brake to hold the car rather than having the gears in the transmission hold the weight of the car. That said I also put in gear after the weight is on the parking brake just to be safe.
