Don't do business with him. We arranged to purchase an S50 engine with accessories, etc from this person. We drove up from Portland, OR to Marysville, WA on Saturday to look at it and hear it run. We agreed to purchase it and left a deposit and received a receipt. Yesterday he called and said the engine would be out that day. We agreed to pick it up on Wednesday. Today his friend calls and says we can't have the engine because he wants it for himself. I'm extremely disappointed to say the least. The trailer and everything is already to go.

Used to be a man's word was bond, now they send you back your gas money and call it all good, wack. The contract you posted earlier should be end of story, but I'd still like to hear what the seller's position is.sigpic

That bill of sale (contract) is enforceable too ... it would depend on how much it is worth to you to enforce it. Small claims court ... you have his sig plus witnesses ... you'd be due gas, mileage, etc ... Hopefully the other forum member makes good on the return of your deposit.Parts Collector and Former Houndstooth interior junkie.

I disagree with the op and in fact highly recommend jay as a stand up and a great local seller and form member
gerta have you ever done business with jay before? because if you had done such I believe you would in fact agree with me :loco:

Greg - I have not done business with Jay, which is why the interest in the various threads. You only know what you know ... It's pretty convincing to me based on the signed bill of sale that the transaction was botched for another forum member.
At this point I'm on the fence on whether I would do business with Jay, honestly. Transaction feedback is one data point to consider ... if you know the whole story on that feel free to enlighten me ... PM or whatever.

Biought some s50 cams, trays and lifters off this fella, premium price, I got the items a week and half after purchase (not bad). The seller kept me informed as things progressed. The major point was the packing. The packing was ludicrous (fantastically so). It was absolutely bullet peoof, everything was packaged separately, exceptionally tight, and insulated from any possible damage. And the parts look to be in excellent shape. I would buy from this guy again.

6SpeedDinan, please respond.
About 6 to 8 months ago (october of 2010) I purchased a set of cams from 6SpeedDinan (jay st.michell) They were supposed s50 cams, trays, and lifters. I recently found out that the cams were wrong when I went to replace the lifters with new lifters I had purchased. (the existing lifters were 35 mm, and the new ones were 33) Then I checked and compared cam sizes, only to find that the lift of the "s50" cams was the same as the lift on my old m52 cams. I have tried to contact you via e-mail, and you only responded until I had informed you of what I found. This matter is now going public. (BFC as well) Please get back to me, I don't even want a full refund, since these cams are in much better shape than my old m52 cams, but I would like one (I feel that 370 dollars is a bit steep for m50 stuff) Thanks for your response, and thumbs down on this transaction for now.
Thad.
