Those rates are very reasonable. It usually ends up costing less in the end just to have the shop do the job start to finish. We have this situation all the time - "I already put the motor in the car, hard part is done" lol, with a lift and an equipped shop, that's the easiest part.

1400$ for things like exhaust isn't terrible, OP needs to keep in mind it is not an "exhaust shop" that charges for a job, but a shop that charges by the hour.

My exhaust for m50 was 300$ for resonator and muffler, 100$ ebay headers, hangers, hardware etc 50$, piping was 100$, and to do the work was 300$, cat 100$ thats 950$, and there not charging per hour to do it, and i didnt buy 400$ cats.

seems reasonable depending on brands and rates. Also castro has a feedback thread, no need to constantly make new ones to prove a point.

I save a lot of headaches by doing almost all my work.

edit: im sure california requires different cats for emissions, more expensive, different types, etc

    LMFAO

Barry guess the M-tech part confused me.

This is the car I'm talking about. I remembered it by the S52 M tech 2 in the title but apparently neither the swap or the M tech 2 are done yet.

Seems to me OP needs a swift reality check, biting more than he can chew. Cheap work isn't great and great work isn't cheap. I knew there was more to this story, OP you seem to be one of those cheap asses who pay for under par work and still complain about price. Ive seen your car at the shop, seems to me your car was 75% incomplete and your funds ran out.. As to why you concluded with this childish act.

FS add says 90% done in the title, how did it regress to 75%??
    From his FS add
"Car is going to Castros tomorrow to get her running. Price will go up since I'm investing in the wiring & getting her driving but I'll keep you all updated. Still PM if interested"

And the invoice has a Jan 2015 date, while he is still posting in his FS add w/o complaints while it appears as though the car is back at his house after it was at castros

tax in cali is only 9%?
    NICE.

also, shit adds up quickly- a lot of what the invoice shows could of been done by an amateur backyard wrencher with the exception perhaps of the wire harness job.

plus...that "75% complete" is an awfully inflated number.

just because the swapped engine is sitting and bolted to the car doesn't mean the swap is almost done...it's just begun ;-)
