    Item: Meyle strut mounts
    Payment: Paypal
    Shipping: USPS

Ken sent the strut mounts right after I paid him. The mounts were new as described, and the pricing was great. Very responsive to PMs.

    Great seller!

    CHPAHOY -- buyer Beware!

bought an s50b30 offa Ken aka CHPAHOY, he seemed very nice and honest while making the transaction. he even delivered the motor from socal to SanFran for a small fee, however when the motor arrived it was missing various parts, despite being advertised as COMPLETE LONGBLOCK. i got him to knock-off $100 from asking price on the spot, and he QUICKLY agreed.

a few weeks later i started opening up the motor only to discover the motor had a blown headgasket, and needed a rebuild. i tried to contact Ken for about a week, no response. this leads me to beleive he knew of the condition, and was trying to avoid me. motor was $2650, rebuild has cost me ~$4000. i could have bought a REBUILT s50 w/ warranty for that kinda money.

after asking around with a few other reputable users from this forum, i have discovered that Ken has a reputation for being shady, and underhanded. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN. i dont know his last name, but he goes by CHPAHOY on a couple forums, his name is KEN from the Santa Barbara, CA area, and his email is: ken.alexisguerrier@verizon.net

Man that sucks.....but it is a risk one takes buying an engine sight-unseen. Kinda like buying stuff off of eBay sometimes. It would've been ideal if you could have heard the motor run (in the car it came from) prior to making the deal. Unfortunately, that luxury seldomly presents itself at the right moment.

Thanks for the heads up. This guy is worthy of being blacklisted.

Okay here's my 2 cents worth. I have to disagree with your view of Ken. I have over the past three years purchased many items, including my 1984 m tech 1 car, from Ken and had the exact opposite experience. As a matter of fact I picked up and delivered the motor in question to Ken. He purchased the s50 from a seller on ebay out of the Tuscon area. The seller worked at a reputible shop and seemed to be on the up and up to me. As I recall the s50 was from an automatic car that was wrecked. So Ken never heard the motor run or knew it's exact condition. I think we can all agree that when you buy a motor that is used and that you cannot hear run, you run the risk of it's actual condition. Ken only represented what he was told from the previous owner.

In September/October of 2006 I drove 3 hours to Ken's house to check out his Euro 323i he had for sale. This car looked awesome in pictures and was represented as being in top notch condition by the seller. For the price he was asking, it should have been!

My time was wasted, this car was nothing near what it was said to be. There was obvious damage to the radiator support from a previous front end accident, rust on the frame rails, and bondo everywhere! Who knows what other rust had been covered up on the car! The paint was also a horrible aftermarket repaint. All in all a big waste of my time. I know this was a while ago now but I felt the need to share.

I don't plan to ever deal with Ken again.

As stated in an earlier post, I had no knowledge of what this motor was all about. I bought it off of ebay and a friend of mine, who I happened to meet while selling him parts, offered to pick it up for me. He delivered it, it sat on my garage floor, and then things in my life changed. I liquidated all kinds of parts and cars to numerous satisfied customers. I even went to great lengths to deliver parts for a nominal fee. This buyer felt that I didn't represent the motor properly, brought it to my attention so I agreed to knock some money off of the price. Not because I had knowledge of a defect but because I wanted to deal in good faith. If you were not happy with the product, you could have backed out of the deal. I have owned BMW's since 1984, probably longer than some have been alive. I have dealt with the e21 crowd for numerous years with no complaints. I have bent over backwards to appease people, giving them parts for cheap or free so that they may complete their projects. If you don't want to deal with me fine, that's entirely within your right. But to come out and say that I am shady and underhanded is just plain ignorance on your part.

Theres always a good story behind that. Either the death of a loved animal, car accidents or botched sex change operations. Give him a break.

Now that you know understand that the motor was bad, what do you intend to do? Did you tell the buyer up front that "I had no knowledge of what this motor was all about." (your words). The fact that you have numerous satified customers means nothing to someone who is out over $2500.

chpahoy: I have bent over backwards to appease people, giving them parts for cheap or free so that they may complete their projects.

That doesn't seem to be the case here.

                    Then answer the phone.

Hopefully you contact the buyer and attempt to make amends.

Ken, this thread was not about the parts that were/were not with the motor upon delivery, we settled that on the spot. this is more about the condition of the motor itself, and your lack of response when i tried to contact you regarding the problem. if i had gotten any kind of reply from you, even "hey i didnt know what kinda condition it was in, sorry." or anything really i wouldnt have felt the need to post this thread. however, you told me the motor was pulled from a running car, and therefor i assumed it was a good motor. i suppose the assumption on my part was a mistake, and im glad i didnt just throw the motor in my car on good faith.

HOWEVER, i got no response, and that only leads me to beleive you did not care and or knew about the condition, and therefore decided to aviod the topic. im not out to get my money back, i'm just posting my experience as a buyer. as i said in the first post, my origional impression of you was very good, and even after i discovered the blown head gasket i still gave you the benefit of the doubt, and waited quite long until i made judgement and posted this thread.

Why is it that shady people can't seem to grasp the concept of a paragraph, or even structure???

Sucks that you are out your money, and this fool does not even say - "Hey, call me I want to make it right - if I even can", or, "WOW, I didn't know - lets talk about it"

Nope - he just does one long run on sentence....after avoiding calls like a little girl...

Just FYI, Joe funk sells awesome motors - shipping is a bitch, but worth it.

                          ...hth
