as I stated before. I got the second wire. it still doesnt work. the wheel was installed and the car was on and when I went to go press nothing happened. what am I not explaining clearly?
Sirsteezo was in my driveway when he was installing this steering wheel. It only had 1 wire attached as you see in the pics. The horn was not working (obviously) He's not trying to fuck with you just give him his money back and he will send back the steering wheel. Whether he pays for shipping or not is between you and him.

When you touch both wires together, does the horn work?

Julien - He said he touched the positive to the wheel itself and the horn went off - which means he's hooking it up wrong, because it obviously works.

sirsteezo, keep the wheel, because at this point you made a false claim in regards to my original thread - you mentioned that my ad said "in perfect condition" or something along these - my ad only had pictures a price and the name of the item - check the thread, I never edited my post.

Noting that, I think people realize that when they buy an item for their nearly 20 year old car they can't expect them to be perfect. BUT, I had, in fact said that I had tested it to be working before putting it up for sale. Which it does.

Sorry, I'm just distraught - this is my first transaction that hasn't gone perfectly smoothly - and I've traded with at least 2 or 3 people on r3v, and 5 or 6 on BayE30, so it's kind of been bothering me recently, because I don't want to feel like I screwed the guy over - but at the same time I believe he's being unreasonable.

This is a reasonably simple problem.

sirsteezo, with your old steering wheel installed, does your horn work when you push the button? If so, ok, it is reasonable to expect the cause of a suddenly inoperative horn to be the last thing you changed before it quit working. The wheel could be bad.

If your horn did NOT work, and you expected this wheel to fix it, perhaps the old wheel wasn't the issue....

                    Dave,

his steering wheel horn worked fine before. He is angry because the seller was not completely honest about the steering wheel and its condition. If it had the ground strap attached it would work fine.

I know this is not really that big of a deal, Sirsteezo just wanted to get what he paid for it.

BTW steven, next time just buy an mtech 1 wheel, not much more then what you paid and a lot nicer.

Here we go, were on to something here.

If I were sirsteezo, and just bought this wheel and it made my horn not work after I connected it the same exact way the old one was, I would be unhappy too.

BUT in the seller's defense, I have personally never seen a E30 wheel not utilize that ground strap, almost all of the cars have it. What wheel did he have that he lacks it?

It's a simple case of some modification necessary to use. Kinda like say, installing smileys. Getting all worked up because they don't plug in doesn't get you anywhere, but you usually expect something like that with a part of that nature. Not so much with a simple steering wheel, but once in awhile, you find you have one of those oddball things.

So take the grounding strap off the old wheel and put it on the new wheel?

                        Problem solved?

If there's a malfunction, there's a malfunction, that's it. It sounds like the horn button is broke. Whether it's a bent tab, broken clip, whatever... it's not working. It should be handled just like any other item that was sent as a good working item and received as a non-working item. Whether that be through a shipping insurance claim, partial refund, full refund + product return... whatever.

All I am reading in this thread is stupidity.

                            sirsteezo

Purchased a set of brand new Ronal ACT-LS wheels from him. The transaction went smoothly, he charged me the actual shipping cost, and they arrived three days later in perfect condition.

                            Thanks Steven.
