Hey guys, long time no r3v. I've been pretty heavy into my DSM's for the last 5years or so BUT the Roundel calls again. Posted here because I plan on picking up a 323ti Compact, then turbo'ing it. Can someone direct me towards a current e36 m50/m52 Turbo build FAQ thread? Checked Bimmerforums, the faq thread is as old as dirt. My main concerns are turbo & injector sizing, and tuning solutions for the MS41 DME....Thanks

Can I suggest an M54?
They're lighter, more powerful, and the MS43 is thouroughly hacked open by now.
Plus, it's still kinda current, so there's a lot on it.
As you note, the M52's getting a bit 'yesterday'
Wait another week, and Nando'll get you into an N52...

has a supercharger waiting to go into the 318ti. Because, why not?
now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves -
Turbo and injector is going to vary with your power goals, Boosted E36 World on FB is very active for the M5x, so that might help.
As far as MS41 goes, this should be a good start:
About this Project OpenMS41 provides a shared repository for understanding the Siemens MS41 family of ECUs (MS41.0, MS41.1, and MS41.2) for the purpose of providing the hobbyist with the means of tuning and calibrating their own ECUs. Most of the research thus far has been for the MS41.2
Basically you can tune it with romraider,
datalog with romraider on PC, ALDLdroid on android devices, or something like logger.s
Read/Write with MS41 Quickflash(~$30) and an INPA K+DCAN Cable.
Megalogviewer HD and Excel are basically necessary for reviewing logs and tuning as well.
Some downsides:
No live tuning.
Logging rate basically capped to 12Hz.
You'll need to retrofit a wideband O2 (which you can feed the 0-5V into the ECU to datalog),
You'll need a better MAF (PMAS HPX/ VMP5000, or a nissan MAF as the budget option. There's a spreadsheet on the Wiki.)
Your MAF scalar will need to have the table divided by 2 so that the calculated load doesn't roll over the software limit.
To compensate for that, the load value in every table needs to be halved as well (so the same airflow reads half the MAF, and shows half the Load, but still references the same cell in every table)
