Slotting the firewall to use the stock brake booster

If I do this, will I have to do any reworking or repositioning of the pedals/master cylinder?

Yea the pedals wont line up anymore with the fork at the end of the booster... Easy to remedy if you trust your welding.

yes slide the booster over


but bolt the bushrod up to the pedal in a different manner

That may work, I'm sure it could be done. I've seen a few brake master cylinder kits for hotrods that go under the dash, but I think the time and money going into relocating it all is way more than getting a booster that would work.

We did it last year and pretty much all it involves a bit of welding. I cant remember exactly how it was setup but simple. pretty much just moving the fork by as much as you move the booster.

you would also have to rework the brake lines that go to your master cylinder

Yes that also but no big deal.

All in all its a better idea to just get a 325ix booster.

How come no one installs the IX booster upside down? Not only does that give enough clearance (offset bracket) but it locates the vacuum line in a much easier to access location rather then being wedged on the frame rail.

Yeah, flipping was necessary. I couldn't get the line anything close to fully in. I had it in like halfway, and it gave me vacuum boost for about 3 miles then fell out right before a big hill. Luckily it was almost to where I needed to get it at the time. Thanks to lifeiskaos' idea, it works perfectly now.

i moved my booster closer towards the strut tower and lengthened the pushrod without any welding....
