Only 3 to 4 volts at coil

Nevermind.. realized you have to check with chasis grounded and im at same voltage as battery...

Im trying to check coils because Im not getting spark. Following the diagram the green wire shoul be 12v correct? Im only seeing 3 and up to 4 when I crank.

I assume I should see 12v even without cranking? Why woild I only have partial power?

Trying to figure out where to check next.

I have the wiring diagrams. Just not sure why I would see only 4 volts. Its a 1989 model e30 with an m50 swap that I took over
