Can anybody confirm only e28 m5 mounts fit or are there other budget friendly options

I've ran the RevShift swap kit (green). In my current car, and prior. They're the only ones I recommend.Comment

think the original recipe was e36 mount arms with e28 rubber mounts. a quick google shows garagistic mentioning the 535i mount. there's info here on the board on it.
edit : poly is a matter of preference. there is more nvh transfer with poly. a lot will depend on the durometer you chose and other things.Comment

The e28 m5 mounts (the cylindrical ones) are what I use on my car. If memory serves correct studs are a little long up top, but have worked great for over 40k miles. Have used poly/solid motor mounts before but too much NVH and eventually went back to rubber e28 mounts for street car use.Comment

I've seen people say E46 M3 engine mounts upside down. Don't know anyone running this combo, but might give it a shot at some point.Originally posted by priapismMy girl don't know shit, but she bakes a mean cupcake.Originally posted by shamesonUsually it's best not to know how much money you have into your e30Comment

castro does it that way. they are hydraulic and come with their own set of fail over time. they also place the engine a little different and require some hammering on the firewall / trans tunnel to clearance.

Well thanks for that, good to know before I bought them and found out the hard way lol.
Running some older generation Condor UHMW mounts atm.
I'm thinking about switching to something softer for NVH and because I have some small knock adaptations in low throttle spots in my timing table that could be real or false, but won't go away with timing changes, and at this point it's just easiest to just chase the idea of false knock.
I also have some current-gen Revshift mounts. They look really nice, but it looks like they shift the engine over a bit, and my existing downpipe won't clear if the engine shifts further to the right.
Supposedly they 3d scanned the bay/engine and these mounts put the engine where it matches the M20 placement.
AKG are (or I guess were?) back in stock, I'd consider buying them also because I'd rather spend the money than re-do my downpipe.Last edited by Northern; 09-27-2024, 05:44 AM.Originally posted by priapismMy girl don't know shit, but she bakes a mean cupcake.Originally posted by shamesonUsually it's best not to know how much money you have into your e30Comment

I have a set of new cylindrical rubber e28 mounts if you would like them.
I currently runt he 70a AKG poly mounts and am overall happy. They have a little nvh over the m20 with stock mounts, but are not bad overall. I had the revshift 80a mounts and they were a little noisy and could feel a good bit of vibrations at idle and low rpm.
One thing I did notice is the revshift mounts made the engine sit higher (maybe 1/4-3/8") and it was rotated a little more towards the booster. With the AKG mounts I do not have any issues with the booster (e90 booster), but the exhaust is basically on the subframe.Comment

I run E46 M3 mounts upside down and the NVH is fine. The nice thing about them is since they're slightly offset it allows you to move the motor around a little bit by twisting them. Takes some fiddling to get them sitting right but they're a good option.Comment
