It is easier to just use the tool though.

yeh, when i did my m20 flywheel swap on my m42 i used two sockets and electrical tape :)

after that experience i promised myself that i would never do a clutch job without one, the alignment tool makes it MUCH easier.

shit if you can't get one, i can lend it to you.

That and alignment tools are cheap. I had a local shop custom build a clutch for the M20 flywheel, I think they charged me $4.95 for the alignment tool?

It was. I had magnificent TQ and more than acceptable whp considering I was running the stock headers, which choke out my engine a bit when it comes to ultimate high RPM power, but the bigger TQ number suited my E36 better as it was only street driven.

Great thread. Subscribed. Good luck with the build.

Thanks guys, but was only asking about the alignment tool since I had forgotten to add it to the first order. Was going to add it to this second order I just placed, but took it off since pelican was going to charge me shipping on it because it was coming from a different warehouse - even though my total was $300+ (with stated free shipping anything $75+). The $3 extra dollars isnt a big deal but its the damn point. I'm going to call monday and have them include it with free shipping or I'll just get it somewhere else.

Anyway, bought this last night, should be here friday. Then again, of the 4 packages that were supposed to arrive this past thursday the 2nd, only 3 arrived - last will show up monday. The list:

Ha, finally over here eh? Thanks for the GL wises. Was going to go with euro headers, but decided I will go with wrapped ebay headers and call it a day. I dont want to get into the subframe chopping/notching/welding/etc/etc. Besides, wallet is taking a BEATING :(

Front 5-lug struts and wheels are on, right now has old rotors and no brakes - looks like they will be getting redone tomorrow and on by tomorrow night hopefully. Began removing rear trailing arms to swap in the M one's, but rear axle nuts are being stubborn even with 30mm socket. Think I need a 6pt. Think I'm just going to remove axles from diff and of the 4 axles I have on 3 sets of trailing arms, see which two I can get off later and put them on the M arms. Rear rotors/brakes are in, will have calipers when I get the others done. Ball is finally getting rolling.

thanks, actually did some searching on here before choosing between the two. Looks like more than one person has received defective brand new graf metal impeller water pumps. So I went with their recommendation of new oem. Was going to get a stewart, but wallet is hurting, my daily just got hit - almost head on, need to start drawing the line somewhere. So oem it was.

I'll try to get some today if I remember

Front 5-lug on, calipers for front and rear being sprayed today. Rear rotors are in, front will be in tomorrow. Hoping to get the M trailing arms on today, then bolt calipers/brakes on tomorrow after work.

New question: I'm keeping obd2, I plan on buying an over the counter harness adapter by someone like a treehouse racing and having my rear o2 sensors, secondary air pump, and ews deleted through software tune. Anyone see a reason why this would NOT work?

Brother, I hear you on that one. I am so #&^%$#ing far over budget on this car, I refuse to look at my total outlay at this point. It would be utterly masochistic.

bimmerworld will do your DME. iirc they quote me $200 for what you're asking + something like $75 for a mild tune (i/h/e). the harness adapter i don't know how OTC it would be. i just made one w/ ewsII for a fellow r3v'er. have made both of my cars. maybe you'll want to pm me and we'll work on the specs... oor go to my obdII thread and make your own

sounds good brother. didnt really want to sit down and do it, BUT i know I really should. And then I can only blame myself if it's wrong.. I remember reading your thread during my decision process of staying obd2 or not.

and to those talking about money dumped into these pits... really, I'm going to throw up if i do the numbers in my head again.

11:1 forged CP pistons and stock rods. From what I understand these stock rods are plenty strong for upwards or 700whp (well something insanely high like that, don't quote me on the exact number)
