Cooling Fan Solution for 24V running A/C

So I have finally found and installed my solution to cooling a 24V E30.

I chose this particular setup because I will be installing A/C and from what I've seen, few fan's are narrow enough to fit behind the radiator. I wanted to find something that would obviously fit and withstand the heat while sitting in traffic.

FF Dynamics makes some seriously high quality fans, I read about them on several Muscle car forums. I ended up purchasing their 12" fan.

    http://ffdynamics.com/FFD12B.html - setup as a puller.

    Rated at 1500 CFM

This unit fits pretty darn close on the 318is radiator but leaves enough room to install the compressor. I got the chance to test it out today and it does the job quite well.

Now I wanted to be sure that I would have absolutely no problems overheating once I do install the compressor. I decided to change my aux fan as well. I purchased a 16" Spal fan.

    http://www.a1electric.com/Merchant2/..._Code=30102047 - setup as a pusher.

    Rated at 2360 CFM

Its a bit loud, I'd say just as loud as the stock aux fan, but again gets the job done.

So the way I have it setup is, the smaller 12" fan turns on when temp hits the 1/2 mark on temp guage. The high speed aux fan kicks on when temp reaches 3/4 mark. Once it does hit 3/4 the fan cools the car pretty quickly and shuts off after it comes back down to 1/2. The smaller 12" fan does not shut off at any point.

I'll try to get some pics of everything mounted so that you guys see the clearances. I will try to get the compressor mounted tomorrow.

Why is your regular fan set to come on so early? It should only need to run at low speeds or idle most of the time.

Mine runs off the stock wiring and a low temp oem radiator sensor.

Pardon my ignorance on this subject, but you had to delete your fan clutch for this mod to work correct?

well SOME people can fit the clutch fan, in my case there is no room for it!

oh hell no man. you only have two choices for the radiator side, clutch fan or electric fan.
