    S52 cam swap

    So it has come to my attention that you can kind of frankenstien a cam setup in a NV M50B25.

    Does this sound right, move the intake cam to the exhaust side and use a S52 exhaust cam on the intake?

    Yeah you can do that. If you run the S52 cam in the Vanos/Non Vanos M50's you need to either swap to an S52 cam tray and lifters or M52 cam tray and lifters.

          So I need the S52 lifters, tray and cams to put it into my M50 NV?

          I think you can on a vanos M50. Only reason you can't in the NV is because the S5x engines were vanos.

          Also, what kind of gains can you expect with this hp wise?

            Well the only motor you dont need to change the trays and lifters in when putting S52 cams in a 24V motor is the M52.

            So yes, you will need a tray and lifters for that cam.

            I dont know what HP gains are but this is a video of my Vanos M50 with S52 cams.

              Nice, I'm sold. Do the M50 NV's have single valve springs, and if so would it be a good idea to put the S50 springs in (if they're doubles)?

                  I'm bumping this back up. I want to clear it up.

                  M50NV= double valve springs

                  M50vanos = conical?

                  And to do this swap, I would need a S5x exhaust cam, trays and lifters to put onto the intake side of my M50NV and then move the intake cam to the exhaust?

                  Anybody done this? numbers?

                      I want to see how much power I can get out of my NV M50 without getting into internals or boost. I want 190 to 200whp. Plans are Injectors, War chip, larger Maf, underdrives, and cams. I hope that will do it.

                            200Whp is a lot for a little 2.5.

                              Nooo. I figure I'm putting down around 175whp now which seems to be the norm for M50 NV's with basic bolt on's. Cam's with a tune and all the supporting mods should bring it in the 190whp range if not low 200whp.

                              It's and obtainable goal, if the head is coming off (I need valve stem seals) I can do a thinner Cometic gasket, ARP studs and clean up the ports a bit for a little help.

                              Can anyone confirm the parts needed?

                              And has anyone does the Schrick solid lifter kit that turner has?
