    flywheel opinions wanted

finally have my s50 engine and transmission.I would like opinions what clutch and flywheel i should use. I have the dual mass unit and also have the e30 single mass . Which will work better and why?

Between the two setups that you have, I would use the 228mm single mass E30 setup. I only say that because I dont like dual-mass flywheels, at all. Ideally, it is nice to use a single mass 240mm flywheel that is designed for the E36 M3 so that way you get the beefier clutch. I would highly recommend investing in a light-weight flywheel.

Search for a used aluminium flywheel. I just installed one in mine and I like it. I have a single mass E30 one in two cars I have done. One is lightened and balanced the other is just stock. It's better than a dual mass for quicker revs, but for ease of driving the dual mass is nice around town.

I had my M20 flywheel lightened by a machine shop.

I used the UUC E30 clutch.

I purchased a new Fidanza for project car to have less noise at stoplights vs my JB racing unit. Now to just finish making a quiet/green exhaust system.

Low budget, m20 stuff = teh suxors

modest budget (<$500), single mass ltw fly (16lb ebay chromoly), e36m sach's clutch = this clutch is great for street and track, will handle all you will throw at it short of 350+hp. I drift and track this clutch, great modulation on the street.

less modest budget (>$500) Fidanza or JB ltw fly (8-12lb), stock or upgraded clutch.

even higher budget, M5 hardware = = why do you need this?

i've been tracking the ebay chromoly (F1) flywheel with the e36M3 oem clutch for two years. i blew my engine two weeks ago, i plan to keep using this combo.
                      No more e30s for me.

                          I used a lightened M20 flywheel with a custom built clutch/pp setup from a local brake/clutch company.

what transmission are you using? do you know if a f1 flywheel + m3 sachs organic/race clutch (euro m3 3.0) will fit in an zf310 transmission on an m50 block? i have the engine, the transmission and the clutch and no flywheel, so i'm trying to figure out what fits and which flywheel to buy

size the clutch to your application. why do you need a race clutch, something euro or something custom? Be practical about the swap, it will save you time and money.

i'm using the ZF tranny with the aforementioned components. Like markseven says, buttah  You have all the components it seems, minus the flywheel. I do suggest a new clutch if you don't know what use the one you have has seen. They are like $150 on ebay. Rock on!
