IP races s52s average between 260-310whp. The higher the power NA, the shorter the usabel powerband. You will fail, I put money that you wont break 300whp NA.

If we could use the 3.8L crank and pistons from an s38b38, then I already would've started, but you can't. Without increasing the bore and stroke of the motor significantly, you will be shit out of luck passing 280-300whp. :p

    You bitch. Foiled again.

Many many hours, tears, and blood will go into this engine, but my goal should be attainable.

S54 race motors run something more like 435whp.

I will have plenty of usable power.

I would prefer if only I wear the medal. I feel more special that way.

Pretty much everything you can think of, and probably a few things you can't. Think outside the box guys. I don't build cookie-cutter bmws here.

Yes, that's totally it. My one and only mod. You have me down to a science, chief.

Poke fun if you want. The cars I have under my belt will show that I am no amateur. I am mechanical engineer, and I have been around cars since before I could walk. My latest pink fendered E30 is the platform and though there is still a ton of work to be done, even in it's current stage is no slouch.

To temper your expectations, take a look at racing engines. A race S54 can actually achieve 350 whp, but then again, it also costs $20k, and the head is actually designed to support that airflow.
