What "bolt ons" bring an s52 to 300hp and what's the cost?

        But no one is offering me cash.

        If I give up now, I will get no respect. If I try and fail, even if I only make 280 or 315hp, that is still a very respectable NA hp number from an US S50. Even I know that, but I am willing to go the extra mile to get that extra hp.

        I can afford to put more into my engine based on what I have into the car currently. I can justify it. I have a 233hp, basically stock, S50 E30 with all new suspension, coilovers, lsd, etc for less than $2k. It's rust-free, and I did all the work 100% myself. I don't let other people, shops or friends, work on my cars.

        $8-9k in a 300+hp NA s50 e30 is not that bad considering what some people put into just their swaps.

        So, I feel like I can open the checkbook and do the things other can't justify based on my current investment in the car.

            I don't follow. Why almost? Don't those things make me less of a dubber? 233whp out of a 204,000mi US NA S50 is pretty facking good. Specially considering all I have done, so far, is a chip, intake, headers and exhaust. That and I only got away with that little money in it cuz I do side work for parts instead of cash and I worked for BMW for a while and get cheap parts.

              I've seen comparably modded s52 make less power. I'm not buying what it is you are trying to sell here.

                  why not, 400 crank HP is perfectly doable on a mass produced 3.2l engine with an $8000 budget. He's an engineer, after all. :roll:
