    The gauge plug [on the harness] has two prongs-- it was meant to be used on the two prong E36 sensor [which works for the E36 gauge cluster].

        I used a M42 brown top sensor, and put it where the M50 gauge sensor goes.
        1985 325e 2.8 Turbo VEMS

          I think you misunderstood me--- I was replying to Mike30's post about the plug on the harness. He said something about he harness only having one pin in the plug for the cluster temp gauge.. It has two pins because it was meant to be used with the E36 2-pin sensor which works with the E36 cluster.

          You need the brown 1-pin sensor that is meant to be used with the E30 cluster. The 2-pin E36 sensor will not work.

          Where are you in NC, by the way?

            Or brown 2 pin from the m10 car will work as well ;)

              but I think the 318 had the Brown top 2 pin..I dont have the m42 engine anymore,but pelican showed this............the one i ordered
