Pull a coil off, rev to ~3k, check for noise, repeat for each cylinder. If the noise goes away for one of the cylinders, now you know you spun that bearing. Worked for me when I spun a bearing on my m20.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.

Lets jot down his symptoms and notes:

      - He replaced the rod bearings some km's ago. (Possibly not enough oil clearance which caused the bearing to fail or incorrect amount of torque for the bolts)

      - Is not as bad cold compared to when warmed up

      - Increases loudness as rpms rises.

Sadly enough it seems like to me your rod bearings are out. It would probably be wise NOT to start your motor anymore. Rather, pull the pan like someone suggested and check it out.

this is a good idea, gonna try this as well..... just confused why the noise would go away when the coil is unplugged???? isnt the rod still turning on the crank?

Youre only going to hear bearing knock if there's combustion present.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.

I would get a gauge on there. the dash light doesn't tell you anything, it doesn't even come on until 7psi or something like that.

okay so i've done this but the noise is still there when testing each of the cylinders, it never went away at all.....

i think i should strip off the tappet cover and check clearances, but does not sound like it... euro s50 have shims.. and buckets, i suppose they are called mechanical lifters

alittle quicker way to find the noise than going and buying a stethascope(yeah its miss spelled.. i think) is just hold a screwdriver up to your ear and point it around on the engine at differant angles, it works really well, youll most likely be able to find which cylinder its on too. just my 2cents
