You could always make one for 10 dollars.

I wouldn't make it out of metal. The whole idea is not to transfer heat through. There was a dude at the E30 picnic who had one made of some sort of composite material, looked fantastic. Otherwise I'd be buying a sheet of ABS plastic.

the temp difference is phenomenal BTW. over 100 degrees - sucking in hot air from the radiator, well, sucks.

Fixed that for you. Sadly, I am neither, and would prefer a (hopefully) quality functioning piece rather than a hack job by a know-nothing dipshit like myself who has no business doing anything but driving a car.

The heat shields I've had, that came with either the Conforti CAI or the ECIS intakes, were all composite. I was surprised to see that my ECIS intake actually was composite with some kind of carpeted lining on one side.

Way back in the day, a shop called Boston Performance Group held a dyno shootout to test the manufacturers of shielded intakes for the E36 M3. While the results were close, the one constant was that an unshielded conical intake lost 8-9 hp on their dyno. I do not know if this was wheel horsepower or at the crank, but I've known this since before I bought my M3 in what seems like another lifetime. It kills me because I know I am hampering power at least somewhat with my current setup, so it's time to try something.

an eta airbox is going to be highly restrictive on a 24v engine, if I'm losing 10whp from the B25 airbox on my stroker

If you have an early model you can use a stock E36 airbox with some slight mods.

                          I can't.

                          :)

The Airbox works out great. Pulls coldish are in. Doesn't get too loud. And looks LEGIT.

Most people can not even tell that my motor came from a different car. I should get an updated photo with the airbox and how it mounts.

the problem is C's car has the factory E30 external reservoir... so a lot of the options you guys are posting would encroach on that space.
Those options would be great if he had the radiator with the built in expansion tank:

but, never having really looked at the M50 swaps, I'm not sure what radiator that is.

oh, that would make sense. I thought the fit was rather OEM looking
