Euro Headers

euro headers installed
These were quite the PITA to install.
I re-routed #6 slightly to clear the firewall. The #1-3 collector was pushed up about 3/4" in order to clear the subframe and the sway bar. It clears both by about 5/16" with 1/4" shim under the motor mount.
Also, the M54 block is physically larger and where these headers easily bolted onto an M50, they actually hit the block on the M54.
The problem with the euro headers is that each cylinder has its own individual flange, they are not combined onto a larger flange plate like most other headers. If the pipe gets tweaked even just a little bit it won't line up any more and the holes are exactly M7 with no room for wiggle.
Also, the port size of the euro motor is huge compared to the US DOHC motors and absoutely gynormous compared to the tiny M54 exhaust port!
Driving impressions: sounds almost exactly like my exhaust with the OBD2 manifold, only slightly more gurgly. NO RASP. ZERO. These are quality stuff. Seems to pull slightly harder.
A/F is a full point RICHER than it was with the OBD2 manifold. I've had to go a click leaner on my multi tune for WOT and it could probably use another click leaner.
When I get my second car (e39?) I'll take them back off and have them coated.

let's say you are buying raceland header for a S50.
If you already have shrick cam, 3,5 HFM and 24lbs injector, I guest you would need a different chip If you add a raceland header... Can TMS provide one, given the fact that it is not a TMS header. OR is there any company that could provide a good chip fot this setup.Leave a comment:

Like this?
Pardon my ignorance for asking a dumb question. I am doing an M52 into e30 conversion. Do these e36 M3 headers bolt straight into an e30 with an M52 engine? I had been told locally that I would need to have custom headers made. =$$$
I have right hand drive. Steering column connection is on the right hand side of the engine. Does anybody know if these headers will clear the steering connection?. Maybe I need e36 M3 RHD Headers if they are different??Leave a comment:

without. if you search for a longer period u can score some good stuff. i've seen 2x a m3 muffler go for 40€ (almost local) now i'm looking for one but nothing cheap there, not even to mention sport exhausts
. i paid my m3 cats about 135€ the rest was shipping from germany to austria. i think it was about 30€ (can't remember, but i think it was a good find)
but the prices are average german forum prices / ebay (buy now) pricesLeave a comment:

You don't have to - spacing up the passenger's side engine mount a little will suffice.Leave a comment:
