Alright. Got spark. Now need a new fuel pump, empty the fuel tank, put new fuel bleed the fluids and get this thing on the road! wootLeave a comment:

So I think I have a lead. I've change the cps sensor to no avail but I found out that one of the three relays is open. By open I mean there is no power coming in on any of the terminals (although I think there should be power coming from 2 of the 4 prongs). Anyone care to elaborate on where these go to or at least which one this is?
Its one of the relays that contains small wires colors: red/white, red/white (thinner), solid grn, and brown/grn
I'm going to be opening the harness and looking for anything suspicious.Leave a comment:

The tool is made from a rg59 f connector.
And yes, the dme is the first thing I looked at as the source of the problem. I tested it on my personal car and it started right up. Also the 506 ecu's were late model obd1 m3s specific that came with ews which wasn't deleted so I thought that if I deleted it, that it would run. Still no dice.
Hey Chris, the crank sensor tested out to 533 ohms and there is not one crack on the plastic insulation. I wish the wires were frayed so it would resolve this issue but nothing ever pans out the way you want it to. I even have 533 ohms all the way to the ecu connector. I still don't see why it doesn't see a signal.
Good work? I'm disappointed in myself that its taking this long!
Anyways, hows that 6er looking? Did you get one yet or still looking?Leave a comment:

Hey Jasper, does it have a new crank sensor? Maybe the wiring to it is frayed? Just a shot in the dark, mine had a similar issue when mine got messed up.
Good work so far brosef! :mrgreen:Leave a comment:

I will let you know what we figure out. MrEricT and I are in the process of ripping the motor back to pieces.Leave a comment:

Guess no one wants to give a crack at it?
I have a theory. If my dme is getting power, and my plugs to the coils are getting 12v when the ignition is on, yet I'm not getting spark... Could it be that the harmonic dampner that is on koole30's car be from a non-vanos car? Is there really a difference between the teeth count on the harmonic dampner?Leave a comment:

For your icv humming when the ignition is off, I believe one of your three relays are on the wrong plug. Try switching them around. When my car made that humming noise for the first time, I switched the relays. But man, I don't know where to look anymore.Leave a comment:

Damn homie, Im in the same spot as you.
You have any problems like this?

Alright quick update.

I got the motor and transmission bolted up, got the driveshaft and midpipes on o2 sensor in place, basically everything for the car to run except coolant related parts (radiator/hoses).
I tried to get it started but to no avail. I have power to the dme, power to the ignition coil plug when the key is turned to the on position but I am not getting spark. Tried to get the spark plug to spark but couldn't (grounded the thread portion of the spark plug and place the spark plug in orientation as if it was in a car) and still no spark.
Things already checked:
506 DME works, tried it on my s52 e30.
CPS sensor reads at 550 ohms.
Made sure all grounds were making contact since the engine bay was painted
Power to DME through dme plug pin #56 at 11.9 volts
No power when cranking the motor to fuel pump connectors
No spark
Wiring adapter works as I checked it on my car
Spark plugs brand new
Coil plug boots in great condition
Sprayed starter fluid to try to see if it was fuel related but no go
Anyone else got any ideas?Leave a comment:
