No such luck for me. I soaked the thermo housing and the hose in oil, and spent probably 20 minutes jamming it on their. No go. If it did go on, it would have failed due to ridiculous stress. I think my hose was skinnier or something. I may give it another try whenever my current hoses fail (which will happen some rainy night on the side of the road).

This is what Jgood is talking about.
That is why I did not use it.
As you can see(post #4 pic), it is thicker in diameter at both ends where it is clamped to the Tstat housing and radiator flanges.

If you really want to use it,
1, slip the radiator end over the radiator flange as it is in the pic.
2, Then position it so that the other end is on top of the Tstat housing flange.
3, Mark off the length where the hose overlaps the entire Tstat housing flange.
4, Now make another mark about a quarter inch further towards the center of the car so that you have a quarter inch more hose.
5, Cut at the new mark. The reason for this is to add a little slack in the hose to accommodate the engine rolling to the driver's right and stretching the hose when you hit the throttle.
6, use a hack saw with metal cutting teeth if you don't have a hose cutter.
7, Now you'll have a fight on your hands to get the now narrower diameter end over the larger flange.
Use some dish washing liquid on the inside of the hose as a lube.

You're making it harder that it has to be. All you need is a straight piece of hose with a 90 degree short end on it.
Here in the US, there are at least 2 or 3 automotive outlets in a town of 6000 plus.
If your local auto store are that unimaginative, tell them you want the E34 top hose as White325iS has repeatedly and helpfully mentioned to ya.

          thanks for that

i went to my local autostore and they took me out the back and showed me thier entire range of hoses and they do have some there that are straight with a 90 degree end, but i didnt know the circumfrence of the hose at the time, so i want to sort out a backup plan now in case they dont have a custom job that will work

          thanks for your help guys

Good info. I ordered the e34 hoses and they were bogus... Maybe I got the wrong ones... I will double check them tomorrow.

We don't have advance auto here, think the part # will cross to another part supplier?

            Thanks. :-)

Well I just crossed the part number from advance that was posted earlier in this thread. it was 71654, which crossed to a Gates pn 21960 which is $12. The one who posted claims that he made both the upper and lower out of this hose... I will check and report back!

I would rather just have a known combo like the e34 hoses that work, but the ones i got the lower has NO chance of fitting, it lacks lenght. It is possible I got the wrong hoses and they are not really the e34 ones, cuz everyone seems to say the e34 ones work...

Not a big, deal I will get it figured out.

I will let you guys know what I find.

Got my hoses figured out. e34 hoses didnt work like people said, so I just went to the parts house and started lookin. Found these. They fit like a glove after some trimmin.

Just FYI I am using the "standard" 24v mounts. e28 motor, and e21 trans.

Left the part number on the hose for all you suckers. Dayco hose. $9.99 both upper and lower hoses are the exact same hose cut up just a lil different for bottom and top.

From what car are those hoses?

I bought these, there for a e34 91 525i and they fit perfect with trimming like yours.

Yea, those look like they work. I dont know why, but my e34 hoses had no chance of working... gay.

I dont have a vehicle reference for my hoses. Just a Dayco part number. But thats all you need. Plus mine are cheaper!
