    Gas Mileage Needle.

Alright so I could be completely wrong with this, but... is the gas mileage needle still as accurate with a 24v swap as it is with the m20 still in it?

When cruising my needle is ~40mpg. I didn't think I was getting nearly that much, but it was just my curiosity that made me wonder if it's anywhere close to right.

no, it calculates based on assumed variables like fuel pressure and injector size, both of which are different on the 24v engines.

Can't you buy a coding plug from George Graves that will make it accurate again?

I wonder if that module also fixes the 13-OBC mpg and range features.. they are asking about twice what i'd be willing to pay though so thanks, but no thanks.

the range is calculated based on the instant MPG, so yes it fixes both.

It does fix both but I understand your hesitation.

Every vendor I've spoken to says sales of performance stuff is way down. The staples are still selling, but the "luxury" of performance and upgrade parts just isn't compelling when the economy sucks.

BMW performance parts should be a barometer for the economy, not housing starts or something silly like "jobless claims".

When I see everyone installing turbo kits and coilovers I'll know the economy has turned around.

When OBC correction circuits start to sell again they will finance the $300 S54 OBD1 conversion kit!

I just fitted mine and it works great, thanks a whole lot to hoveringuy for the chip and the tremendous help he has given to me.
i've got 550cc injectors and i've got accurate range/consumption figures, well worth the money spent.....

I want one. One of the things I watch the most next to temperature guage and oil pressure is the gas mileage "econometer". My wife just watches the "econometer". This will be had when I'm not scraping pennies together ;)

Yeah I wish they worked for swaps. Sucks to have a gauge you know is off the charts, or pegged to the right because it looks stupid. Although someone on bf.c had an A/F retrofitted where the econo gauge sits, but I've yet to see that idea executed without the distinct DIY (read: homemade) flavor.
