Hello. As I understand it, some s50's came with 413 ECU's, same as m50tu's. If the ECU is able to adapt that much to the cams and displacement, can it do the same for an OBD1 m52? With stock or s52 cams, it's kinda halfway between an m50 and an s50... Thoughts?
Chip necessary on OBD1 m52?

It need's the correct chip for said mod's. A 413 DME from a m50 is going to have a different program then a 413 DME from a 95 S50 M3.

Someone on bimmerforums said he's got a stock 506 s50 chip that works great with his OBD1 m52 with s52 cams. Anybody else using something similar?Comment

the physical DME is the same. that's what the number "413" is in reference to. it's the removable chip inside that is different...
just like the super nintendo system can play both "super mario bros" and "super mario bros 3".
edit- and, i wouldn't use an s50 chip with a 2.8. go ahead and drop a couple hundred bucks on a proper chip for your motor.Comment

I'd bet an OEM S50 chip would run just fine on an M52. Hell, I'd rock it.Comment
