Alright gents. So I got a 30 day tag to help sort things out. I thought if I drove the car everyday to work it'd help out (100mi round trip) it didn't. My numbers are exactly the same as they were a month ago. My question today is; if I go somewhere and they hook up my diagnostic plug will it tell me if my cats are clogged, o2 sensor not working, etc.. so I don't end up fishing and changing everything? This is so frustrating considering I can drive to work and back 3.5 times on a tank of gas.

Do you have a check engine light?

A stomp test can tell you the same thing a scanner will.

I don't have a check engine light currently. After I'm finished with my diagnostic I'll report findings. I'm hopeful my car will throw a code and all this will be finished

Okay, after doing some research I've read post +88 year models are only equipped with self diagnosing capabilities. My chassis is a 86'e model. Has anyone encountered that?

either O2 or cat. My cat is shot in my bmw and the car runs riiiichh. I changed the O2 and it did nothing for it. Shows the cat is shot.

Okay I got my codes.

1) 201 - o2 sensor
2) 013 - o2 sensor
3) 042 - Speed Sensor
4) 041 - Air Mass Sensor
5) 078 - Engine Temp Signal.

The mechanic said if I get a new MAF he's 99% percent sure the two o2 codes will clear. What I don't know is code 042 & 078 Engine Temp signal. BTW if anyone has a DIY to fix the MAF I'd really appreciate it, or one for sale.

That is a Coolant Temp Sender issue. That will cause issues too. Just replace the MAF, the coolant temp to ecu sensor.

Who wired your swap? Speed sensor connected?

try running the e85 in a low fuel tank, but bring gas in a can or go straight to a station afterwords. the alcohol will increase the burning temps drastically and help to burn everything, including all the seals in your engine (thats why you need to dilute it quick).

Fuck emissions! So I took everyone's advice and ran the hell out of my car in 2nd gear, got it piping hot, bought a new MAF, new temp sensor, O2 sensor, ran my tank down to empty, put 2 gallons of E85 and one gallon of 93 and the mother fucker didn't improve a bit! Fuck this fucking state and all of its bullshit (rant) so I guess the only other thing to do is get new cats......fucking wonderful. All this just to drive a car that gets 30+ mpg......incredible
