    dual cat /size for camd s50

    I am not sure weather my cats are too large some how. I wanted to run the cats immediately after the headers. I have two mac 2.5" hi-flow cats i would like to use that are off my old mustang exhaust. Exhaust will be all mandrel bent and stainless. Hoping for the 250rwhp club here, figure it will provide nice motivation for my project daily driver that's almost done .

    Engine will be as follows:
    -fresh s50 bottom end
    -fresh m50 head w/s52 valve train
    -minor pnp of head
    -shrick cams
    -24lb injectors
    -obd1 war chip
    -euro maf/3.5" c.a.i with shield/air box
    -m50 intake
    -dr vanos unit

    Exhaust questions/setup:
    -leaning towards the raceland headers
    -since they are 2.5" down pipe would it be ok to run two 2.5" hi-flow cats?
    -merge into single 3"
    -3" race muffler
    -3" oval tubing
    -3" muffler

    buy my exhaust... if the racelands are euro reps like everyone says, it should bolt right up to them. Problem solved :)

        why dual cats? sell them, go with a single 3" and be done with it.

          well i need cats in va as this is my daily project and they can hit u very hard for having no cats. not to mention i would think they would flow better than a single 3" cat.

            but with two Y's and two size changes, any slight increase in flow would be offset, plus the extra weight and packaging issues. a single 3" cat should easily handle 250whp..

                2 headers - Y - 2.5" pipe - 3" pipe - Y - whatever the stock size is

                that's two Ys and two size changes..

                  The headers are long tube design and have a 2.5" outlet which would run straight through a 2.5" cat each then to the 2x2.5" >3" flowmaster y-pipe. rest of exhaust would be 3" all the way out the back

                  Just thought it would maybe help mid-range torque or something with the 2.5" down pipes being so large.
