All OBD-1 VANOS 325i harnesses are compatible. You'll want to a manual one as the automatic harness has a bunch of extra shit in it. (Although it will work too.)2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4WD LBZ/Allison

If I recall correctly, the E34 harness ECU connector won't reach a properly bracketed ECU. It's much better to get an E36 harness than it is to add in that kind of iffy factor there...2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4WD LBZ/Allison

So a 325i/is manual harness and 413 red label ecu is fine to use with an s50 engine. Would you need a chip for a s50 in the ecu thoughComment

just fixed it for you not you dont need a chip to run it but you do need a chip for it to be tuned properlyComment

Yes, a 325i manual harness will work. And yes, a 413 red label ECU is fine to use, but you WILL need a chip for an s50. Either from an M3 413 red label DME, or from a company like The Racer's Market or Turner or whoever. They will just need to know what motor/mods and what DME.
edit- Okay, like gregslow said, you dont neeeed a chip to run it, but I wouldn't run a 3.0 with a 2.5 chip. There's no reason not to get the proper chip...Comment
