    Going through Guibos

Is anyone else going through Guibos like they are a pair of old sock? Feels great at first, everything is smooth and comfy, then as time goes by, not nearly as comfortable and feeling kinda bumpy.
I think I have a problem with my engine sitting too high in the car. Its currently sitting on urethane engine mounts, and I keep tearing through the guibos. I know that my driveshaft is in line down the center of it, but I think there is too my angle from the transmission output shaft and putting stress on the guibo. Is anyone else having this issue with urethane engine mounts, and how would you suggest fixing it. I'm thinking i may have to fab up custom engine mounts but that sounds a little tricky.

You could try the e28 mounts everyone uses, they seem to hold my S52 pretty well. Also how is your center bearing?

Well these are the e28 urethane mounts. And yes, the driveshaft is balanced. I guess I could buy the regular e28 mounts instead of the urethane ones.

The yellow Ireland Engineering Urethane e28 engine mounts? Shit Those are what I'm going to be using for my swap I hope I don't tear through guibos.

If your center support bearing is ripped up, there's a good possibility you're going to eat through guibos. Check that shit if you haven't already.

How tight were your U-joints? If they were super stiff they are probably binding which is common with older driveshafts, this will cause premature guibo and CSB failure keep that in mind.

Wouldn't recomend the yellow ireland mounts or stock e28 green mounts. I've broke 3 sets of the stock e28 mounts and the yellow ireland mount have sagged so bad after only a year. I just swapped to the akg swap mounts they are nice. I have pictures of both mounts I'll post later.

                  A) be careful of cheesy aftermarket flex disks. they aren't made the same as OEM.

                  B) it's possible to put them in backwards. They don't like it. Make sure the arrows point at the flanges.

Buy a 1 piece driveshaft without a guibo?

You're semi correct. There is probably a problem that needs to be addressed, however, guibos can still S a D.

I was told the arrow points to the back of the car...at the dealership, by a tech.

That idea has been kicked around before. On domestics, the UJoint comes apart to allow installation of driveshaft...you are a M.E., come up with something better than BMW!

The arrows go towards the flanges... as in, both flanges. Each hole has an arrow, half point one way, half point the other. There are two flanges, trans and driveshaft.
