Rosphill...You should definately get the M50 PS mount. I scratched my head for a couple of hours trying to figure out what to do with mine, but the M50 bracket is the ideal solution.

And btw, it looks like we've got exactly the same setup going...M50 in a Burgundrot Metallic diving-boarded coupe...strangely enough! Except I have tan houndstooth and 14" gold BBS.

I will have pics up later today for anybody who's interested in this part of the swap....

You just need the electric purge valve hooked up to avoid a CEL. Long term you're probably going to want to just hook it up.

Its easy to hook up. Really. There's no reason not to...plus you evade the dreaded CEL too!

Today I also learned: E36 driveshaft does not need the E30 CSB turned backward, the shaft will be kinked to the right if you do this. The E30 CSB is offset in the same direction as the transmission. Remounted this 3x before coming to this conclusion.

Additionally learned the hard way: Mounting the downpipe to the manifolds is a total pain, is there any OEM downpipes that clear the sway bar? I have both E34 and E36 at my disposal but neither look to fit well.

What is the most common solution to this problem? Shimming the passenger's side mount seems to be the easiest, but I wish I would've prepared for this situation before I dropped the motor in.

My E36 downpipes won't clear the subframe either. I wasn't sure whether to shim the motor mounts or not before installing the M50. I'm not feeling shimming the motor mounts, so I plan on getting the stainless steel Raceland 6-2-1 Ebay headers because people have used them and they clear the subframe and passenger side lolipop with no problems.

E36 downpipes clear my ie 25 mm swaybar just fine. I had to shim the passenger side mount 1/8" or so. You will have much more clearance with the swaybar when the wheels are on the ground.

I'm not about spending anymore $$$ than necessary, hence I won't be buying raceland headers. But Gnarles, I've got a feling you are right about the clearance when the car is on the ground. I just want to run this cabby sway I got from the yard with no issues. Looks like the passenger's mount will be shimmed.

Here's my setup if anyone wants to use it for reference. Pretty sure this is what most people do...

So, one line on the charcoal canister goes to the throttle body with the EVAP electric purge valve inline, but where does the other hose off the charcoal canister go?

Gas tank. It attaches to the hardlines by the firewall.

Ok so right now I think I have the incoming fuel line going to the front of the fuel rail and then the return fuel line is coming off the back of the fuel rail and going back down to the gas tank. We blocked off the connection on the TB until I get the electric purge valve/charcoal canister hooked up. The charcoal canister currently is not connected at all. Seems like there were two fuel nipples on charcoal canister, how does all of the fuel system lines route with the charcoal canister hooked up then?

Fuel lines are right, FPR is on the rear. Its the opposite of how the M20 is configured. Shorten the rubber portions of the fuel lines considerably, leaving plenty of room for the canister. Keep it up high and test to see if your steering knuckle hits it.

There are 2 inlets on the canister, smaller one for the evap/purge with a sensor plug-in going to the TB, the larger going to the fuel tank.

                              BUMP!

I dont think my car has had a charcoal canister on it for a very long time, so Im starting at square one.

I am looking into getting the EVAP purge valve and the charcoal canister itself (E30 will work fine for both pieces from what Ive read)

Then its just a matter of hooking it all up.

From what I understand, theres a hard line from the fuel tank to the firewall, any idea what & where I should be looking to find this thing?

From that hard line is a soft line to the canister (does it matter what I use? vacuum line?

and then from the canister it goes to the purge valve and finally from the purge valve to the throttle body??

How am I doing so far?

Is there a plugged vacuum line on my TB I should be looking for?

Cant wait to get this stuff done so I can go through the BAR to make my swap legit

You have a really early model right? Didn't some not have charcoal canisters?
