I don't remember the exact number, but I paid more than $400. Active Autowerke did the fix, and their labor is pretty damn expensive. That being said, it was also done right, so I can't complain. Especially because they are the ones who pointed out to me that my issues were likely from that and not an ecu issue as I had suspected, so kudos to them too.

I hope that your issues turn out to be simply from the timing, because if they are when you get your car back it will feel AWESOME.

Hm. I need to raise prices, apparently.

I'd do a cam retiming for $250 + valve cover gasket any day of the week.

I've wanted to develop a little bit of electronics that would read the crank and cam signals to give an EXACT timing readout for either cam. I'm already doing that with the VANOS controller, I would simpify and shrink it down to a standalone unit.

I know that BMW can read the ECU to get that data on the newer cars, not sure about our motors.

Really depends on location and client base. BMW dealers here charge over $150hr and indy's are in the $90-$120 area.

OBD 1 or 2? Any high end scanner can read OBD2 cam positions.

If any of you were closer, I would have taken the deal.

Trust me, I also hope its just timing. Its been over 8 months without driving this car. If it comes back tip top, I will be pretty content with my car to say the least.
