of course the colors dont match up with anything... what needs to happen is you need to do a continuity test and find out what pin number they match up to on the ecu connector...

So we got the fuel system working today by tricking the fuel pump relay into working with a wire. But we still aren't getting any spark at the plug. It seems that for some reason the fuel relay isn't getting power. Any ideas?

did you go over all your grounds, dme grounds, dme power, etc?

what wiring harness are you using? e34/36...im thinking thats the ols for a e34 harness...

the dme will ground the relay...have you tried switching the crank and cam sensor at the harness? or checked the cps

The previous owner of the engine labeled all the wires and according to his labels the cam and crank sensors are attached correctly. Tomorrow I'm going to try swapping another m50nv ecu with mine and see if the ecu is the problem. If that doesnt work I'll try swaping the sensor wires and see if that does it.

Oh and that plug may be the oil level sensor. But Im pretty sure i had a new one that was attached to my harness adapter. which one should I use?

one with the adapter, I would try switching the crank cam before the dme...

Alright so I just switched the crank and cam sensors and had no improvement. I also switched out my ecu with another green label 405 and that didn't seem to help either. The injectors don't seem to be working, I'm not getting a spark at the plugs and we had to trick the fuel pump relay to get the pump to work. I'm wondering if my wiring harness adapter is for the wrong engine or just defective. I reviewed my PM history and I gave the guy I ordered it from all the right information, so idk.

                        Hi

I just got my euro M50B25 Vanos running.

I meassured the pin 30 and 85 (coil) on the main relay and when under load the 12v went to 1 .. V so there had to be a bad ground.

And indeed! make sure you ground your DME box very well! the wire's to the box are not enough!

Check your CHIP. If installed backwards, it will cause all the same symptoms
I got a fender roller now! LMK if you need me to roll your fenders or want to rent the tool from me locally.

I've got a ground to one of the bolts on the bottom side of the DME is that not enough? I'll recheck the voltage on the relays, maybe I have the same problem you had.

I thought about that, maybe I installed it backwards or damaged the computer taking it apart. But I just tried a different DME and it didn't seem to help. :(

I really appreciate all the suggestions and help guys! I can't wait to get this damn thing on the road again. (Plus I'm tired of walking everywhere! haha)

I used the not installed slide inserts to ground the box.

Just recheck the voltages on the relays with and without a relay inserted..
