just set it up as a PNP with a stock harness. I've got a half started MS3 PNP adapter for 24v cars. Was going to build one to sell it but haven't gotten around to it yet. there isn't much to setting up MS3 - you need the MS3x for fuel and spark outputs (full sequential), and 6 coil drivers for the stock BMW coils. Otherwise you don't need to do a whole lot for mods. I also have a conversion chart for the ODB1 (vanos) harness, haven't done one for non-vanos or ODBII yet.

PNP? plug-n-play>? lots of names here i have to do research on. WOuld you be interested in selling your half setup? The Vanos system is something else i need to research and understand more. I've been focusing my time on what just getting the engines in and out as of now, and the parts i need. Once i get to the fuel system im going to do a ton of research before i make my final decisions on what im going to buy. Thanks for the advice.

yeah, plug and play. I was going to do a "PNP" system with my M20 but the M50 harness needed so many mods I ended up just connecting it straight to MS (which I later decided was a mistake).

right nowthe adapter is just a bare ECU and some wires, I haven't even gutted it yet!

single vanos would be pretty simple with a PWM output, or whatever it needs. plenty tons of I/O.

a chip is going to be far easier. you'll have the most flexibility with standalone, as far as putting it on a dyno and getting power out of it.

thats what i've been leaning towards. Most likely going with the TRM chip tune and have them send me the MAF, studs, and headgasket and go from there. Thinkin about going with a Garret GT35r as well.

you might just end up with the fastest vert out there. chassis flex anyone?

yeah i was expecting that. I'll be fabricating some cross bars that connect to the seatbelt towers and run behind the back seats, as well as something either in the convertible top compartment or the trunk.

Just snapped 2 cell phone pics, sorry for garbage quality.

I totally rebuilt the engine and replaced or replacing everything....running 3.5 MAF, 21.5 injectors and TRM tune. I hope to turbo over the winter, I can't wait to drive this thing!!!

Just need to rebuild the VANOS (looking for that stupid reverse thread bolt), sort out what I want to do for a brake booster and exhaust. I will be running the zf trans and maybe 3.46 diff.

Nice! You are way further along with the cosmetics. Car looks great! the interior looks brand new.

Do you think 21.5 injectors will be too little for a turbo? ZF trans is the way to go for sure, but i was thinking about going with a 2.93 or 3.25... luckily my friend is doing an m52 swap in his IX so i will be using his spare break booster. Have yet to figure exhaust out. I would really like to use a brullen, but its almost impossible to find one of those.

what is that metal casing on your intake manifold?

thanks! We've owned the car since brand new...lol

yes I will have to upgrade the injectors when I turbo....but that is after the summer fun!!

the metal casing is just the vanos cover that attaches to the front of the head laying up there. I have my vanos in pieces still to refresh the seals. I'm searching for that reverse thread bolt so I can put it all back together.
