I don't miss the leaky oil and coolant, but lately every once in awhile I miss the silky smoothness and sewing machine symphony my M50 is devoid of. Just curious if anyone else feels the same.

I do prefer the sound the m20 in my vert with a magnaflow over my m50. I always thought m/s50/52s sounded like well muffled trucks when the car still has a stock exhaust. VANOS tq pwns all though. Leaky oil and coolant??? There is no reason for an M20 to have those problems if it is being properly maintained. While it doesn't have 24 valves, there's a lot to be said for an M20 in good operating condition. Not to mention that they are a lot easier to work on.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

the s52e30 was nice, smooth and daily driveable motor. If you want more power but still want itb's and solid lifters get a euro s50 motor or an s54. or s38 hehOriginally posted by bluntComment

considering this is how me and my M20 parted ways, I can't say I miss it so much...
It did run really nicely though with the cam (schrick 284) it... right until a valve broke :pAttached FilesGreg 1987 325is (fairly far from stock at this point)
