 I did a quick photoshop. You need to push the clip up with your finger or a screwdriver. That's how it sits also.

 TPS.. The TPS wil cause the ICV to open and close irratically and the idle will hunt like yours. Hit the AC button and see if the idle jumps up when you do.Comment

 Hey, drive this to Parker's shop tomorrow. That's definitely drivable and, we can get it straightened out. I'll be there morning until I'm finished putting up a work bench or two.

 this is the piece that hooks into the MAF sensor which is attached to the air intake
 
  
 
 
 
 you can tell that one of the holes looks different from the others. the others have a copper looking finish inside the hole but the one at the bottom in the picture is just black. could this be causing my idling problems?Comment

 you said you ran the fuel tank really low. Have you checked the fuel filter?? It could be clogged up. How many miles on it?'87 325ic, powered by S50.Comment
